So as to not be misconstrued, I should make it clear that I am not writing a WPF tutorial, but trying to get a handle on it myself, per a new year's resolution to learn something different. The tutorial I am referring to is from a book I picked up at a second hand store a few months ago by Loffelmann and Purohit titled, 'MS Visual Basic 2010 Developer's Handbook'. The guy has some quirky variable names, but it's a better starting point than another book I had tried before.

I've been using Windows for so long currently running window 8 on my desktop. I think windows is better to develop on than linux. What do you guys think about the war between linux and windows ?

My opinion is this:
- For .NET-based languages, Windows is easier to develop.
- For most other languages, Linux is easier to develop.
The quick red ProgramFOX jumps right over the Lazy<Dog>.

What war?
There is no war, just like there is no war between arable and dairy farmers. There are just people doing their work.
The only way to win, in this non-existent war, is by doing your own work well, and leaving the other guys to get on with doing their own work well.
Losses can only be taken as acceptable during a war. There is no war, so nobody should suffer any losses. Just do your job and look after your family.

This. I write Windows LOB software during the day, but when I don my cape and cowl at night I run OS X through VMWare on my Windows laptop. It was a gigantic pain in the rear end to get working and I wish that Apple better supported iOS developers developing in Windows. *sigh*

I have my preferences over Windows (OS X) but these are my preferences. In all reality what matters most is the tools that you use to get the job done.
I do think however you should be skilled enough to work in Windows, Linux or OS X.

I concur. For decades, my primary OS choices have been Guardian and MPE and all their associated tools. Now, it's Windows 8.1 and a word processor.
The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.

OSX is a great platform to run Windows on.

I would like to point out that there are some differences in the way these platforms work that most people are not prepared for. Also, you do not need to be able to work in 'nix to be a succesfull .NET programmer.

unless of course you are using Mono via Xamarian and are developing applications in C# to run on an embedded version of Ubuntu on a Arm processor.
Don't narrow your employment security by narrowing your belief that the language you use only runs on a single OS.
