After Griff's strange one yesterday, we do need to know how many characters please.

As I said this is my first go  I thought the number of characters were the number of symbols given , which in this case is 10

Maybe.  The rules also state that its OK to add up to three clues to help us.

Ok thanks - while I have your attention do you know how to get charmap characters to display properly here ? I tried cutting and pasting and got jibberish

you can try to html encode them manually.
Example:
Character: ж
Htmlencoded: ж

If you click on a symbol a small tooltip with information like the html code is shown.

No. I usually just copy the unicode symbol into the textarea (and I guess Chrome is encoding it when sending it over). But if that doesn't work for you encoding them manually might be an option

And I've read once that if it happens the door was designed badly, because good design is obvious
And yes, in terms of bugs I've been there too

Well we forgot to put a transaction.rollback and dispose it in the exception handling, system broke down after apptempt to save failed...
