Lucca is a wonderful city but during the Lucca Comics it is invisible, there are deep walls of people and pavillions, cosplayers and performers. Colourful, with a distinct smell (not always pleasant) and feeling. It's my third year there - probably I won't return there for a while though cause I live a bit far from Tuscany and each time it's 4-500€ of expense only to reach Lucca, stay for the nights and pay the tickets for a couple of days (the others I go as a freeloader, I can't access the pavillions but after the saturday it's moot as everything of value has already been bought.
Closing note: the correct sentence is "Se lo avessi saputo, ci sarei anch'io"

The sentence construction was perfect, it's just that "sarei" goes for the first person singular, "sarebbe" is a third person singular.
And "Se io sapessi" refers to a present/current condition, while "Se lo avessi saputo" refers to a past condition, is qute literally a "If I had known that...".
Many people here would get the entire sentence construction wrong with bigger errors in the verb tenses - which are a PITA in Italian with respect to English. That, the fact that each word has an implicit gender which calls for different articles, and the fact that each verb has a different suffix for each of the 6 possible subjects (I, You singular, He/She/It, We, You plural, Them).

The subjunctive's a bugger in English, as well -- not because it's difficult, but because so many people get it wrong regardless.
I'm forever handing out bollockings to people for writing "if A would have [past part.]..., then B would have [past part.]..."
(It should be "If A had [past part.] ~~" -- the same as in Italian, so I've no excuse for getting it wrong)

Been to Lucca once, it was a Sunday, it was closed. Still beautiful, but felt like a ghost town.

On Sunday Italy is a ghost nation  we take sundays very seriously. There are many laws strictly regulamentating the opening of commercial activities on Sunday and festive days, usually only big distribution has some kind of special arrangement (but they are still forced to strange things like opening only ont the first and third sunday of the month...).
Also every non primary city feels like a ghost town, most activities are located in the main centres of each Region (some rich regions have more than one, others have practically none). Many people prefer the small towns to live in because there is a lot more tranquility and many relations are still personal - in my 1200 inhabitants town for example the postman tries to deliver many more times in a day than the ones he's mandated to... it may seem a small thing but it can really improve the quality of life.
