How can you mess up trying to start or install teamviewer? After 20 minutes trying to guide a user to just get it started I gave up and screen shotted step by step instructions for the problem they needed help with...
I'm really glad my wife suggested pizza and wine for tonight because I'm going to need it.

Be grateful you even have that technology. I did tech support back before anything like that existed and we had to walk people through doing everything. Different days now.

Team Viewer does a good enough job itself at screwing you over. TV 10 and 11 aren't compatible. So guess what, I have to uninstall "the other" for one client, then "the other other" for the other client.
Then, I've had the installer fail, thinking it didn't uninstall something, I don't remember how that got fixed, I think a reboot, wipe the folder, etc.
Then sometimes it thinks I'm using it for business when I'm not, and because I DO use it for business occasionally, it gets horribly confused.
Other than that, it's fast, the file transfer is awesome except it doesn't retain the size of the explorer window or my column settings, which is really annoying.

Be glad you have this now. Back in my day we used to have to flag down a Pony Express rider to take the instructions to the end user and then wait for the reply...

Yep, it really sux when it takes longer to get an end user connected on a remote than it does to fix their problem once connected!
I started doing frontline support before remote desktop sharing and remember well how difficult and frustrating it was to solve problems that way. Reliable remote desktop over the internet was a game changer for me, my company, and most importantly our clients. We're all spoiled now!

I'm glad to see Microsoft pushing into hardware - competition is good for all of us.
Given the generally high prices on Microsoft's new gear I'll be interested to see if the folks here in the Lounge that usually bash Apple for their prices will be honest with themselves and also bash Microsoft or will hypocrisy prevail?

MS is reporting that the Surface Pro and Surface Book are selling well enough, despite the prices. So, there's gotta be a market for them.
That said, I don't see anyone buying MS hardware because of brand name fanaticism.

I didn't see people buying MacBooks or iMacs because of brand fanaticism either but plenty of people think they did just because they think Apple prices were too high.

I honestly can't say I've ever met anyone though who gets a hard-on from MS in the same way some Apple users do.

MS will eventually fail every user of theirs, big time, at one point or another. Anyone expressing the same religious fervor about MS as some Apple fanatics do has to have something wrong with them. 
And I'm saying this as someone who:
(a) Would never give Apple a penny
(b) Has made a living off of MS's platform all of his life
(c) Has worked for a company that got acquired by MS and made a decent profit in the process
