I have a great job right now - putting together a recommendation for a new laptop for me. It needs to be able to do 4 hours of REAL work, not this "light use fluff", have high res, enough space for multiple versions of VS, and a VM or two, and be portable.
I have my eyes on the 512Gb SSD version of this:

Any other recommendations? As I'm the main GUI writer in the small company I work for, I want to have touch and hi-dpi on one of my machines, just to make sure our software will play nicely with them - and I miss my laptop from 5 years ago that had 1900 x 10something...
The price of the Yoga above is making my boss wince a little, but not refuse, so no $3000 swiss made gold plated ones please...

It doesn't look like it has touch, which is a point against - not a deal breaker though. I'll see if it's available here for my list.

Is there a place where a programmer can find side programming jobs? I thought that is what sologig.com used to be but it doesnt appear to be that way now.

I actually find a fair amount of work on Craigslist. In each city there are Computer Jobs and Computer Gigs sections.
Jobs is full time & short term stuff, while Gigs seems to be quick work.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is

Thanks for the feedback. I am looking for some extra money and would hate to go get work at some random place for x number of hours a week when I have skills that I can put to use that compliment what I already do day to day.

Dark Matter is one of those things that are used instead of saying "I don't know" -- some people have so much ego in place of intelligence that those words cannot come out of their mouths.
"Oh, our current calculations show that there should be more mass in the universe, but we can't see it, and we don't think we've got our calculations wrong, so, rather than admit that we could in any way be wrong, just tell everyone that there's a bunch of Dark Matter, and try to make it sound as sciencey-whyencey as possible."
Of course, if there is even one black hole in the universe, then the total mass of the universe shoots up to infinite, so the only problem is that there aren't any black holes -- but no-one will admit that those calculations could be wrong, either.
