Clarification:
It's CNF and stands for “Concession & Franchise Fee”. Worse, it's added BEFORE sales tax is calculated. It would be like going to any restauarant, getting your bill and having line items for "Electricity", "Property Tax", "City Franchise Fees" added on. Come to think of it, it's like flying now.

I've also seen some localities (not the city or county... but the planning agency) adding tax to restaurant and retail bills...

Vegas is all about hiding fees. Last time through we book the hotel online. On checkout we were told the room had another $25 a day fee not included in the price advertised. Scumbags. And the last time I book anything through Hotels.com.

All vacation hotels seem to add a "resort" fee. It is scumbaggery.

As time goes on, I keep moving forward with resolution capabilities. I always prefer the highest (so far).
I just dropped the resolution on one of my monitors to 1440 x 900 to adjust something on one of our internal tools. I can't figure out how i ever navigated computers with this resolution. It makes me think of a super mario level[^].
It's just odd that it wasn't that long ago this was normal.

I worked on a system that had a mandated maximum dialog size of 600x400. That seemed soooo biiiig.

I've got the opposite problem with my laptop. It's got a 3200x1800 display, and some apps have text too small and overlapping controls. For the applications that don't have jacked up formatting, the display is super nice and readable.

I think the obvious solution here is for everyone to always use the resolution I am using.

A friend bought a new Win 8.0 laptop, and asked me to set it up for him.
I tried to update to IE 11, and was greeted with a message that I had to upgrade to 8.1 in order to uupgrade to IE11. ABSURD! IE11 runs fine on Win7 so why do I need 8.1 to install it on a newer version of the OS?!
My first action was to try to update it to 8.1, but it wouldn't let me do that until I'd applied updates first. ABSURD! Updating to 8.1 should apply the missing updates in the process of "upgrading"!
So I went to apply Windows updates. Of course there were a slew of them (101 to be exact), so I simply selected them all and let it go. 30 minutes later, it rebooted and spent the next 1.5 hours configuring the updates, only to displayy a message claiming that the configurtation failed, and that it was going to revert changes - which took another 1.5 hours.
So, I had to applie all of the updates two or three at a time - which took another two hours.
Finaly I was able to upgrade to 81. - which took over THREE HOURS!
I started at 9am and didn't finish this until 5pm! FRAK!
I tried to install MSSE and it told me that Win8 already had Windows Defender on it and didn't need MSSE. How is it that Windows Defender is all I need on Win8, but Win7 needs MSSE and Windows Defender? WTF?!
