A friend emailed this to me and thought it funny.

A recent article in the Dominion Post reported that a woman, has sued Wellington Hospital, saying that after her husband had surgery there, he lost all interest in sex.

A hospital spokesman replied: "Mr. Maynard was admitted for cataract surgery. All we did was correct his eyesight.

I'm reading all the Bond books again. Why? Because I can!

Anyway, for those interested, his Martini is called a "Vesper" and, as he states in Casino Royal:

Bond, James Bond:
'A dry Martini,' he said. 'One. In a deep champagne goblet.'
'Oui, Monsieur.'
'Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large slice of lemon-peel. Got it?'

I have had various Vodka Martinis over the years but tonight I may well try and make it this way.

I suspect you would need to ~~double~~ treble the Gordon's measure but other than that it sounds nice.

Suddenly my mind is racing, trying to figure out the side effects of a short condenser.

Lower yield due to the ethanol not having had a chance to cool below 175 (ish)?

I keep asking the bartender to make mine like that and they always look at me funny. My wife wrinkles her nose when I have them like that and asks why I don't just go chew on a juniper tree.

My reply always gets me in trouble.

How are the books ? Especially Casino Royale, is the movie along the book or did they have to make a lot of shortcuts ? I had to watch the movie thrice, to be honest, to fully understand the plot.

The first three or four films were very close to the books and then they started to diverge. I have not seen any of the Daniel Craig Bonds so I cannot comment on those, but Roger Moore was nothing like Fleming's creation.
