I think you meant elude[^], although the definition illude[^] seems to fit as well.

If you have been a student, off sick, or unemployed in the UK, you have almost certainly watched this at some point: Countdown world record[^]
6000 episodes?
I'll admit: I still watch it from time to time - I started when my mother was diagnosed with The Big C and it gave us something to talk about each day that wasn't her problems, she loved the show!
So... Anyone watch it often?
Get many 9 letter words?

You'll find it in the dictionary, between sympathomimetic and sympatric

Me too, new series this week.

The one on the right can come round for afternoon tea!
Always found it a bit drab. Liked the numbers part though, although I find it quite annoying I'm usually 2-3 out of the target.

Rachel Riley is utterly lovely.
I always used to be good at the numbers, if I couldn't always get the answer in the 30 seconds mentally then I could usually get close or at least know how to get there, if I had pen and paper then I could almost always get them.
Since the car accident last November I cannot get anywhere near them, just don't seem to have the basic building blocks available anymore. Very frustrating.
I think I've got the conundrum two or three times.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Yeah Riley is pretty close to the perfect woman, beautiful, clever and funny.

I used to watch it in my school days sometimes. And in boring lessons a few of us would use our calculators to generate random Numbers Game challenges instead of listening to the class. I'm not very good at the word ones though, I usually get 5 or 6 and watching the real thing was a bit disillusioning when they were on 8 and 9 every time!
