If it were important enough for me to know about it would have a CompuServe GO key

Oh, well, I can also give you the phone number for a local BBS. You still have that 1200 baud modem, right?

Welcome back.
So it does not took 3 hours to replace the modem.

Nope: just a new master socket and face plate splitter, as a quick rummage around in the roadside cabinet.
Half an hour or so and I'm configuring all the wireless devices to use the new WiFi.

Is it a home hub unit from BT?
If so, I hope they have increased the maximum number of devices permitted to be connected. My HH3 crapped out at 20.
I removed it in the end and now have the OpenReach device connected directly into a Ubiquiti Edgerouter.

No - I don't know what the latest version of that is like, but the early couple of versions were truly awful: built to a very low price and put in a pretty box.
It's a TalkTalk SuperRouter: a badged Huawei HG635
The menu system is certainly easier to work with than the Belkin it replaced.
Bugger! Just realised the printer is WiFi as well..

When we moved into our current house, we wired every room with ethernet, and use wireless for the laptops/ipads/phones. We use TimeWarner for internet, and immediate replaced the craptastic modem they give out (that allows almost NO administrative configuration at all) with a much more capable 3rd party unit along with a 16-port switch.
I recently moved the home theater NAS, database, and web server boxes into a 3rd (unused) bedroom so it would stay cooler and quieter in our office.

Time Warner just upgraded my internet (for free!!!) and gave us a new modem which is excellent (surprisingly for TWC). We also have wired and wireless which works very well.

Replacing something is not the usual problem...
The problem is to get the new part working fine

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

Well, yesterday we finally took down our Christmas Tree. It is normal for us to keep it going until late January but this year was an exception.
However, to ensure there is no change of mind I have just incinerated the b'tard and all her pesky needles.

You must take it down earlier or "bad luck will befall your house"... maybe.

Curiously, Nagy isn't as late as you might think. Christmastide is actually over at Candlemass (Feb 2nd), though the period between twelfth night (Epiphany day) and Candlemass is called Epiphany Season.
Or at least this is partly true - I found this[^] which seems it is confused, at least to the left-footers.

Na, we just leave the bugger up because there's naff all else to cheer up January. Even the fatties have stopped going to the gym and that's the only good part of early January.

For most people it should be over at Candlemas[^], and it's very utterly definitely over at Candlemass[^]

It's over when there are no more needles on the tree!

So it depends on what species Christmas Tree you've chosen.
With a Norway spruce[^] it's basically over at New years.
But if you choose a Nordmann fir[^] you'd better give it a good shake around midsummer.

Is that a laden Norway Spruce?

Laden Norway Spruces are non-migratory, so I don't see how that is relevant.
