Well, in her defense, when my grandparents moved into a retirement home, they couldn't bring along a full house worth of furniture with them, so my parents/uncles/aunts "inherited" it even though they were still alive and well...

Yeah but for stuff like furniture I wouldn't use the word "inherit".
Nothing prevents you from just giving things like that away. With "inherit" I'd associate some legal process involved. (Like transferring the ownership of a house or a company)

Don't download code from a 6-year-old article using an essentially deprecated framework, and then leave me a message about a null reference exception, and ask me what you're doing wrong. I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's trouble, a man alone. Now they got the whole country sectioned off, you can't make a move without a form.

Though if they are a new programmer trying to learn, should they necessarily know its a deprecated framework? Is there a way to flag old articles as such so when a person wants to ask a question, this is explicitly explained to them beforehand? Or perhaps they want to understand the old framework merely to satisfy curiosity?
Can older articles question submissions be turned off, or redirected to a general forum if the author no longer wishes to respond?
I understand the frustration, and I'm guessing you posted this in the Lounge as more of a rant. I have not seen the question and following exchange, so maybe the questioner should have known better, but how can we be more encouraging for those who do not?
