I think our countries are at both extreme ends. What you saw on the video was a typical 1990s or pre 1990s parents way of teaching. But still a significant number of stupid parents torture their children even today.

Overall, 2000s and after, there's a lot of awareness not to torture children into studies.
Students here , are generally doing well, but the parents expectations are wired , they tie educational achievements to "Family pride". They are so proud to announce to the world that one of their children now is a Doctor & another is a rocket scientist. That's what bothers me. Their intention is so selfish & shallow. They groom such a spolit brat, that is so aggressive & selfish.

Starting to think people post kid pics in their profiles because that was the last time they were cute - Jeremy Falcon.
