There are legal limits to front window tints in the UK: the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through. Some police cars carry tint meters to check them at the roadside and will issue on the spot fines and prohibit the car from being driven until the tint is removed.
That's a lot less tint than the average pair of sunglasses, and it's for two reasons:
1) So that you can actually see something after dark.
2) So the police can see the driver and what she or she is doing.

I've had mine tinted as dark as the law here in Ontario allows, since I got the car, and I bought it brand new in 2006. Never been bothered by the cops. The guy who installed it had been doing it professionally at the time for 20 years.
It really cuts down on the heat in the summer, and if people can't see what's inside my car, it's a lot less tempting for kids to break in.

Reverse gear was a pain in my last car. (Manual transmission)
Just in few days of use, I noticed the reverse gear shift doesn't engage in one attempt.
I'd have to disengage, move the car by few inches and then try again then, it works.
When I raised this issue with the dealer, he said, shifting reverse gears need some "knack"  and this is how it is!
After years of usage, at one point, it became so worse. Then I called to the service department and explained the problem. Well, they came to the point straight. It would need some minor replacement and it might cost $400. What the heck, I've been complaining this right from day one on a brand new car. & I had a different response.
I just totally dislike this pattern
Something looks like a problem for you from day one & the other party never recognizes it & when the problem gets severe, they suggest a solution straight without looking at the history of this complaints & responses. 
Okay, I took it easy, I did not go for the $400 replacement, I tweaked up my "knack" for reverse-gear shifts and ensured I live with it Long enough till I sold it back to the same manufacturer.
Yup they do exchange customers old cars for new ones.
Now, I have a brand new car. Got it after exchanging my old one. It's different model but from the same manufacturer. It's just few weeks old. And now I'm seeing the same problem again.  The reverse gear doesn't engage at first attempt. It takes me to rock the back and forth and try again.  .
Does reverse gears in this universe work this way? Or I'm just alone here with my curse of the reverse gears?
I think I'll have to learn a new "knack" for this car now. WTH!!

No problems in my current car, but it's very familiar. Maybe it depends on whether the reverse gear has a fancy gear-liner-upper or just tries to jam the idler gear in depending on luck?

Depress the brake before trying to shift into reverse. I have to do that in my Mustang (it's called a reverse lockout).

This is a culture shock for many immigrants to the US (from Europe and Asia). To see that 95% of the country drives automatics

At one time, an automatic transmission was considered a 'luxury' add-on that was fairly expensive - 10% or more of the vehicle price. Nowadays manual transmission isn't even an option on most vehicles, except for sports cars like the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Mazda Miata, etc.
If I have a choice I will always drive a stick. Living in Ohio with the crappy road conditions during the winter, an automatic doesn't give you the control you have with a manual transmission.

I drove manuals in India but since I left, I've been an automatic only guy. The last time I visited India, I did not even drive (not because of the manual issue but because I could not handle the traffic chaos).

Its a funny thing, in Europe almost all cars are manual. (In fact the car license is different for an automatic, if you pass on an auto, you cant drive a manual legally)

It depends on the country I think, I never heard of it and in Italy it's definetely not like this (that I know 100% sure).

1) Push the clutch pedal completely;
2) Some cars are terrible. My old Fiat Seicento required also to move the car by a few inches in order to engage the rear shift. I found it hasppens mostly on the cars that have the rear gear at the bottom right of the clutch lever, while the ones that have it on the upper left + button/lever are more reliable.
3) Another model form the same manifacturer => possibly the same gearbox manifacturer.

The OP's car is a new car with an automatic.
Info:
Newer cars (since the early 80's?) with manual transmissions have a reverse lockout switch that prevents the car from being shifted into reverse unless the driver has his foot on the brake. They also have a clutch relay that doesn't allow the ignition to be turned on unless the clutch pedal is fully depressed.
Some newer cars won't allow the ignition to be turned on unless the brake pedal is being pressed. My F150 won't allow the shifter to be moved unless the brake pedal is being pressed.
