Take it up with the Unicode consortium. NULL is defined as a control character[^], not a space character[^]. It would be rather perverse for .NET to ignore that categorisation.

Howdy y'all - been away for a bit.
Last year was "The Year of the Hip" as in I had both of my hips replaced. One in June, the second in November. Lot's of PT but both successful - ZERO hip pain today.
A week and a half ago I had the first knee replacement done. Unlike the hips it was done on an outpatient basis. Arrived at the surgical center at 5:30am, surgery complete by 9:00am, discharged around 1:30pm. Crazy!
Used crutches for a few days and opioids for a few more days. PT is harder with a knee than it was with the hip but it's not brutal (yet).
Not sure when exactly I'll do the second knee but probably sooner rather than later. I can't wait to be able to walk without pain.

In and out in a day for a knee replacement is pretty quick. In NZ they like you to be in hospital for a few days as one critical aspect of recovery is the right exercises by physios to get the joint working as quickly as possible. Without the exercises the recovery can take significantly later then it should.

1-2 days is fairly normal here too. Doing it outpatient is pretty new and certainly not the norm.
They've found that staying out of the hospital increases healing and patient attitude and reduces the chances of infection.
I actually had my first PT at the surgical center before discharge and started outpatient PT within 2 days. Could have started with home PT but I discovered (hip #1) that the locals that do that in my area are idiots.

Faarrrkkkk!!! You are falling apart at a rapid rate. From memory you are only 54, at this rate you will be about 80% artificial by 60.
Have you thought about changing your name to Steve Austin and moving around in slow motion with a cheesy soundtrack in the background?

 I've actually been falling apart at a slow but steady rate for decades. The hips and knees finally became too much to medicate. Probably should have done this a year or two ago.

(I've only been setting them off for twenty years - my right shoulder is held together with lots of surgical steel - but my young brother got his first hip replacement when he as twelve after he fell out of a tree. He landed on his head, bounced, and smashed his hip to pieces on the rebound we keep telling him.)
Glad to hear you are heading for "out of pain" in all four joints! Arthritis, I assume? Herself is waiting to go on the waiting list for an appointment to arrange a place on the waiting list to see a consultant to discuss the possibility of going on the waiting list for a hip op ... which will be canceled on the day due to "pressure on the NHS".

15 days till my Missus is in to get the right hip replaced. At 50 I think she is too young but if it shuts her up so I can sleep at night I'll be thankful.

Anyway with you getting bits done, either she's jealous... or are you in some sort of body upgrade club?

I had a knee reconstruction >25 years ago but as of yet haven't had to have anything replaced.

I found the hip replacements to be almost instant relief. I was standing with full weight bearing on my new hip within 10 hours of surgery with no pain. Amazing!

Then you seem lucky, it took my wife more than 6 months to recover from a knee replacement.
I have to mention that she has rheumatism which complicates things, it also made recovery very painful.

Everything depends on degree of recovery. I'm certainly not back to 100% and don't expect to be for months to come. But it's already better than before the surgery!
With any luck I'll be back to work after only 3 weeks. Not that I really want to get back to the grind but I'm using accrued PTO for all this and I'd rather save it for something enjoyable.

Maybe a tip: we found that biking was easier than walking.
We bought two electric folding-bikes which did fit in the boot of our car and enjoyed cruising the country a lot.
But this is from a Dutch perspective of course, we have lots of cycle paths over here
