from memoly got to do the /upk first
seems odd if there is no slmgr.vbs, perhaps need to chdir to the windoze/system32 or whereever they hide it? (search no resultata's??)
oh, and don't forget the "Run as Administrangler"
or find it on t'other machine and copy it over?

It's in the BIOS/UEFI, has to be a proper key.

Tried that, didn't work. FirmwareTablesView[^] shows that there is no MSDM which is where the BIOS Key is stored.
Further reading says that when Dell replace a motherboard, that motherboard doesn't have a BIOS Key in it. Bloody stupid if you ask me, but that is all I can assume it is.

I got a 2nd Pi and setup my secondary DNS server. The pi-mary DNS server has blocked 38% of queries made (SWMBO's iPad is quite the chatty Kathy in this regard) since I stood the server up. I'm happy with that result, and I don't mind at all that these little boxes are running Linux. It's actually a refreshing break from Redmond's oppressive Windows OS.
RANT #1 =============
The pi-hole multi-server support is non-existent - if you have two pi-hole servers, neither one knows about the other (c'mon guys, it's not the 80's any more - THINK ABOUT YOUR USERS!). Seems to me that it would be assumed that the low cost of entry would prompt a lot of people to run two pi-holes for DNS.
Things become even worse with regards to also being a DHCP server (you shouldn't have more than one DHCP server on the network at a time, and this forces me to keep using the router as a DHCP server). In the event the primary pi-hole goes down, the secondary will be used, but you have to manually turn on dhcp for your network to be 100% again. Some interaction and automation between two (or more) pi-holes would be really nice.
RANT #2 =============
Every time I see someone having a problem, the universal answer is to issue a series of arcane command line statements. To be fair, this has ALWAYS been Linux's biggest failures in terms of acceptance, and is not at all pihole's fault. Modern (non-Linux) users have become so spoiled with pretty GUIs (and yes, that includes me) that they would simply rather not bother with command line crap. There is no value in forcing people to be propeller heads, and there's no reason to keep insisting on doing it. Period.
I understand that most people run pi-hole devices in a headless configuration and might install the non-GUI version of raspian to create the smallest possible footprint, but there IS a version of raspian created for those that would like to remote desktop into a GUI instead of using a PuTTY console, so they should put some effort into supporting the users that choose to do this.
NON-RANT ============
Pi #1 is running on a new 16GB SD card, but Pi #2 is running on a 5-year old 8GB card (dog slow compared to the 16GB card). Hopefully, I'll get my 32gb compact thumb drives in the next day or two, and I'll transfer the OS image from both Pi's to the larger thumb drives. I've read the SD cards are substantially slower than a USB drive, and even more important, are not nearly as reliable. It's really too bad that the Pi 3B+ doesn't have a USB3 port (like most SBC alternatives already do), because booting from USB will be even faster. Here's hoping we get more RAM, a faster CPU, and USB3 on the Pi4...

I still mess around with Rfactor 1 on occasion. The newer games hold little interest for me.

I'm also not stressed, mostly because I have no filters. AS far as the specified rants go, I feel like I'm qualified to offer an opinion, no matter how self-righteously indignant I may sound. 
Of course, I normally respond to rants like that with sage advice, along the lines of, "You're a programmer - fix it!". If I have the time and can figure out how to do it, I just might. Truth be told, I've already started googling about it.

I started to set up pi-hole, but my modem/router requires two DNS servers, and hell if I was going to set up another pi-hole just for that. I tossed it and just use my ridiculously large HOSTS file.

Just set the second (backup) one to your existing DNS server. Won't it use the primary Pi-Hole one if available and only use the other one if the Pi crashes?

The problem with using a hosts file on the local box is that it only works for that box. I have 12 computers/devices to manage at home, and I don't want to run a marathon to update the hosts file all the time. The pi-hole device is a centralized spot for doing it.
If you want to use a single raspberry pi, you could set up a pi-hole on the pi, and then create a virt8ual machine on the same pi and install pi-hole in that VM. Of course, that's kinda stupid because it defeats the high-availability characteristic of having a separate secondary server that will kick in when the primary goes sideways on you.
On the other hand, you can simply use the primary IP of the DNS server that pi-hole was using as your secondary DNS, but that won't filter ads, and that's the reason I just got anther pi to serve as secondary.

Just an update.
My modem/router is SO smart, that if I put pi-hole in as the primary DNS and put Google in as the secondary DNS, it sees that Pi-hole is local...so it uses the secondary.
But no matter, I can't get two virtual switches to run at the same time, so I can't have my Windows VM and my Linux VM running at the same time, anyway.
Someday, I'll stand up a real box and run pi-hole on it. Or get a different modem/router that isn't so "helpful".

I'm the one who suggested Pi-hole to you a week or two ago--nice follow-up.
All I can add at this point is that I'm not as sophisticated a network admin as you are. You're right about a secondary DNS--if the Pi-hole machine goes down (a VM in my case)--like the power going out--and I forget to power the host back on, ads will still manage to sneak in until I remember to power the VM back up.
Other than that--it certainly suits my needs well enough I can say that for me, it's the closest "set and forget" piece of software I've used in a while.
