In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with Azure. Everyone has different levels of “hobbyist”. A better idea would be to setup a budget and see who (and what products) fit inside it. I hosted ~many~ sites in Azure for free. I wanted custom domains, Let’s Encrypt support, and a few others features… so I setup a VM which costs me around $50 a month. I now run a dozen (or so) sites on that VM, setup a Kubernetes cluster, got gigs in block storage, and other stuff… for around $200.
Personally, I feel free is usually a lie and never worth the actual cost. Besides, companies pay for Azure, AWS, and Google cloud experience. Not so much the smaller providers. Spending a little bit of $ might help to you land a high paying job.

You may chose a plan that fits you best.
I have two hosting plans with them:
- "basic" for personal stuff I may experiment once on a while
- "max" to host a website for an organization.

I would not recommend asphostportal. Support is spotty - some good, some bad. Responses are typically overnight (not within hours). Their email service is spotty. They don't really support Cloudflare DNS - if you use it then the email service doesn't work - if you drop Cloudflare to make it work then it is spotty. I am considering a switch to a2hosting. Anyone have experience with this one?

So I turned 50 last Friday.
Bought myself a new barbeque and fridge for the kitchen. Old fridge is now in the backyard so I have a beer fridge in the garage and the backyard.
Saturday was a barbie and piss up in the backyard. I survived and decided I should help myself to more on Sunday as I had heaps left over as people pulled out Saturday morning.
When I got up at 08:00 Sunday morning I noticed I had made a number of phone calls the night before around 18:00 to 17:00 taht lasted at least 15 minutes each. Don't remember dialling the numbers nor what I said during the conversations.
Had a great time, too bad you didn't come along.

It may be wise to have some blood work and other tests done - or at least scrub yourself down with steel wool and bleach - just in case there's something you don't remember aside from making the telephone calls.

I am working on that app at home, as a hobby...
And I am thinking to make a web site for it.
I don't expect a hug traffic, but there will be a forum, with, maybe, 10 posts a day?
Now, since I am a .NET enthusiast I am thinking of hosting the domain on Azure.
But I am a little scare of the elastic pricing....
How much will it cost me to host in on Azure on average,do you think?

The Pricing Calculator for Azure[^] is seems to be so complicated (probably on purpose)...
I once run a free account (it has a time limit of a year IIRC), and was careless, so run out of the time limit and payed a nice sum of $50+ to learn it...
(To be honest others have the same lost-in-the-fog policy... With AWS you are calculating your savings, not the price )

I know what you mean. I was thinking of experimenting for a couple of home projects where an always available DB would save me a load of work in replication / reconciliation - but couldn't work out what the heck it was going to cost me so said "sod it" and didn't bother.
