I grew up at about 50 degrees latitude and saw these as well as Sun Dogs[^] more than I want to remember. The wikipedia pages do not really talk about the accompanying weather but (for Sun Dogs at least) they are very reliable at telling you that it is going to be cold as hell (*) very soon.
(*) in the figurative sense, not literal sense.
I'm retired. There's a nap for that...

So I went from a job where, among other things, branching wasn't done because it was too complicated, you had to queue builds in SDLC manually for QA and for PROD you had to go through another layer of paperwork which involved filling out some obtuse fields in a horrid Excel document and then submitting a deploy request through an equally horrid custom web page....
...to a job where branching is used (typically on something where making a custom branch would be useful) and Jenkins is set up to automatically build and deploy to code to the test / live site depending on where the commit / merge is made (dev or master.)
No submitting builds manually in SDLC, no obtuse forms, no awful web UI's.
Life is good. Very good.
Now, granted, supposedly the reason for the miserable way of doing things previously had to do with auditing requirements, but really, there still had to be a better way!

Previous versioning system were zip files and changelogs smacked onto a file server. I briefly used SVN for a customer like 3 months ago.
Here we use Git with git flow, I finally managed to learn how to use it and with the gods blessing I won't turn back anytime soon.

Do you prefer cats or dogs?

Cats. Independent rather than fawning, generally helpful with their wastes instead of "here'll do", don't eat noxious substances then lick your face, ...
Don't get me wrong; I like dogs - my neighbour calls me "The Dog Whisperer" because his dogs do whatever I want them to, and ignore every command he gives them - just I like them like children: fine as long as you can give them back.

I've got 4 dogs and 1 cat. I like both, but I must admit that I prefer the cat. He's an outdoor cat and earns his stay by getting rid of the rodents around the house. The dogs, well they're cute, but really provide no service whatsoever other than being a blanket for the Mrs. at home.

A previous neighbour had an Afghan who had a tendency to wander off. So he fitted a gate on the path. The dog was big enough to walk over it without problems but it was just a gate - no fence either side, he could have walked round it at any time.
He told me the dog was too thick to think of either - and he was right, Rufus just couldn't get out unless somebody opened the gate. 
Cats? I'm pretty sure they have invented teleporters ...

I had a similar experience with one of my dogs, not even trying to open an unlocked gate. Cats are way smarter.

Cats in general, and some dogs.
I'd like to have a nice cat robot that behaves like a real cat; pretty much ignores me except when time for feeding/charging.
I'd rather be phishing!
