Personally I think the powers that be should officially pretend not to see any shenanigans going on with student registration; but instead come down on administration at the end of the year because 6% of the student body scored 0's on every assignment and examination. (Alternately do the same to the admins for falsifying grades.)

... started up Visio to create a flow chart, and my system prompted me to enter my credentials to connect to the MS template proxy server...
I entered my creds and it refuses to connect... because some idiot in the IA department decided that the MS office template proxy needed to be blocked. I can't use ANY of the office apps installed on my system because of this.

I'm not looking for suggestions or help. I'm merely ranting (again). Nothing anyone suggests can be done, because...
I have no control or even input regarding what software the Air Force uses. We also can't use USB devices of any kind, and we don't even have dvd drives in our systems. We also can't download anything from the internet, or install software.

It is not a pleasant experience, to be sure...
I've spent the last three weeks trying to track down a connectivity problem, and it seems like we're no closer to resolving it than we were when I started. Our software was working great until the beginning of February, and then it suddenly started failing. The symptoms are (and have always been) that the software fires up multiple threads, and each thread is assigned an equal number of items to fetch via a web service. We expect an occasional request failure, and have written code to accommodate this in the form of a user-specified number of retries before terminating the app (the first thread that reaches the retry threshold terminates the app).
After running for a bit, the app starts getting consecutive failures on all threads. This might sound like a memory problem, but remember, up until February, it worked great. The length of time before the failures start is almost always different. To troubleshoot this, we even set up our own "remote" server and web service to return the same amount of data (500k records), which proved our app was working as intended.
I think our primary road block is that nobody wants to do as much work as we have in order to help us track it down. In other words, it's a typical federal government cluster-f*ck.

Notepad is making a comeback! You can also use WordPad if you want/need to get really fancy.

Does anyone have this device? Chuwi Official 10.1 Inch Chuwi Hi10 Air Tablet[^]
Is it working smoothly?
I mean it's a Windows 10 convertible tablet with plenty of connections for a small price.
Is that processor capable to navigate the web, use PDF documents, excel and word files, Outlook?
I'm thinking about making a gift to my parents to replace an old computer that is giving them headaches...

I've got the Hi12 (2017, so it's two years old now) and it has a lower spec processor but the same RAM.
(See Take three tablets and call me in the morning - the Chuwi Hi12[^])
It'll browse the web, read PDF and epub, run LibreOffice, VS, email, Corel PaintShop Pro X9 ... everything I've thrown at it.
Gripes after two years? The magnetic keyboard connectors have bent, so I don't use the keyboard any more, and the pen was a waste of space. Oh, and it was too big to comfortably run Android as it felt like a preschool tablet with icons that big!
I'd say the Air will do everything that does, and more.
