probably Japan, they do weird stuff like that all the time (and the cat's there know if they don't do it they really will be replaced by a robot.)

Unfortunately they (since I'm talking of 2 new comers) are not yet allowed to get outside, since they could not get vaccinated due to massive worm infestation (or at least this said the vet). Another point that inhibit the outdoor, is the fact they are female and still "complete", so i would not like to let 2 cats out and get 10 or more back.
Finally, even if it would be just a couple of months more to have them allowed to get out, Winter is coming, and i fear it would be not a real option when snow and frozen mud will be the panorama for some months
And yes, I know internet is full of everything, but I'd be more interested in direct experience

I didn't know you can't vaccinate cats with worms, but since most vets want as much of your money as they can get hold of I'd tend to believe him ... worming treatments cost me around £8 per year per cat, but vaccinations make them a whole load more dosh!
Definitely leave them in until they are vaccinated, fixed, and microchipped - but after that the weather shouldn't be a major problem, they will treat it as an adventure / hunt / territorial exploration anyway!

My wife tried with our rescue cat who was a few years old, and it was an unsuccessful, traumatic experience for the cat. I suggest trying it only with a kitten.
I understand that a large water bill is a potential side effect. Cats a keenly interested in the flushing water, so if you teach your cat to flush, watch out!

I've never even considered that. The onboard firmware seems to handle the litter box routine with only minor prompting on first installation(*).
(*) Translation: All of my cats have either known how to use a litter box, or could figure it out by me dragging their front paws through the litter once or twice.

You're perfectly right, the outine in itself works perfectly right; the problem is most due to the garbage collector thread, that consumes too many resources, especially in the morning when all the systems are starting up and some of them have strict time limitation (the cloud named school does not accept delays  )

I hate this. I always feel like throwing up when I go to a new job. Not a big fan of change, I think.
And the offer is 10K less than I wanted, 8K less (gross) than I'm making now.
However, because income tax wouldn't apply, my actual take-home would be about 800 more per paycheck.
So it's a good deal, but it still feels like a crap deal. Weird psychology and tummy going rumble rumble rumble.
And it's Java. 
I should just close my eyes and push the "accept" button.

It's a big decision - it always is - so you do need to be reasonably sure it's right for you before going ahead.
I have no idea how you earn tax free money legally - most countries try to avoid letting you do that unless you change your name to "Amazon" or "Google" - but money isn't the only factor, honest!
Think about the location: where is it? Does it mean moving town, city, country? Or is it close enough that you can live where you are? What's the commute like? Better or worse than you have at the moment? If it's better, then it's can be worth taking a drop in pay because you save in travel costs, and get extra free time (which is priceless).
What's the new company like? The people? The work? You are going to spend 1/3 of your life with them (and 1/3 sleeping) so there is a good chance that you will be with them more than you are with your SO / friends ...
Don't just push the button for money: it's not worth the stress if you don't like what you are doing, honest!

It's in Wiesbaden, vice Stuttgart. I HATE Stuttgart. Well, Baden-Württemberg, in general.
So it's a move...paid for by someone else.
No idea about the company, the people. But the ultimate employer is still the same. It's a contract position working for the DoD. So, the penumbra (not the right word, but whatever) is the same.
But I won't be sitting in a basement pretending to be a DHCP administrator.
I'd be sitting in a basement doing something else.

If it's Contract vs Permanent, then you may want to look a bit more closely: Contract != IncomeTaxFree
It means that you become responsible for your own tax affairs, and will have to pay the government directly instead of the company you work for doing it for you. You need to plan for that, and deduct it from your "pay packet" in advance or you will come a serious cropper at the end of the tax year.

Nope. There's an income tax exclusion up to $105K. I could pay it and "get it back", or just tell them not to do any deductions, since I will not be going over 105K. The only non-elective deductions I should have will be the 14% (or so) for Social Security & Medicare.

I may be sitting here, but I'm not a part of Germany. (Same with the US Military here.) (We don't even pay VAT on most things.)
BUT, if I did pay German taxes, I would get reimbursed by the US, come tax time. (Or at least it could be claimed as a deduction, which might work out the same, money-wise, depending on how much US tax I would normally have to pay.)
All various agreements with foreign countries doing all sorts of fun things.

The local tax free benefit is spelled out somewhere in the morass of NATO treaties. The US tax free benefit is just a way for the US Govt to make working for it abroad more attractive.

In USA, there was a program (A1B visas, perhaps?) that allowed a legal form of slavery that skirted taxes.
Originally, at least, a foreign worker could get a job via an A1B visa if no US citizen could be found to fill the position. The solution was to advertise a job with specification that perhaps only a few people in the world could meet - and then, with such specialization - and a relatively crappy salary (to make sure no US citizen with the experience would consider the job). In exchange, the company got a cheap employee who could not change jobs for (at least) three years.
So the company got cheap labor, US employees were cheated out of jobs by what amounted to an imported indentured servant.
The above went on in Chemistry - so it's a good guess it went on all over the tech world
