installed .net 4.8, noticed that a ".dotnet" and subdir "telemetry" (or something like that) quietly appeared in my c:\users\<myname> folder.

not sure if they do the same on other platforms, not sure (and don't care) what they're watching,
but it's really getting out of hand.

I replaced it with a junction to my temp folder - a folder I regularly empty.

I get tired of winduds hiding temp, info collection and cache folders [randomly?/haphazardly?/purposely?] throughout the directory tree,

...at least [most] linux apps use properly designated directories for most of these. (usually those linux apps that also hide these folders all over the place are ported from windud apps.)
