Hi All,
As per the subject line. No one seems to know how they want a CV laid out, each agent, company wants a different layout... I am starting to think it's a case of you can't polish a turd (but Mythbusters...), but you stick a flag in it!

Gak. It really is a hideous task. I've stayed at more than one position until the absolute breaking point because I was avoiding the job search.

Feeling that one. I think you need to write 20 versions with different pseudonyms.
"Please add a few extra lines about xyz"
"Oh no please shorten it to 2 pages"
"Please put education at the top"
"Why is education at the top? I want to see the relevant recent jobs"
F**king hell, just give me and application form then and sod this CV business. It's darned impossible!

You are after all a developer are you not? 
Why not make a virtual CV that can be loaded on a website or something. Then you just populate the different views as they request it. Like say expandable objects then they can just click on Education and it will open up and show your education. Same with all the other stuff. This way they can look first at whatever they want and only look at what they want, with an option to print or download the actual CV. So now you have a CV and a proclamation of your skill set as a developer

Mmmm, I have debated doing that, but the recruitment agents won't touch anything that isn't a .doc file, a lot can't even link to download it...

So true but I am thinking of when you do it directly and not through agent. But if you go through agency they usually retype your CV and send that in to the different places don't they?

Just remember to insert all the buzzwords, language names and such you a re interested in in white color and font size 1 everywhere you can on the CV.
This way they will be invisible, even when printed out, and your CV will pop out every time a search is made in the database with the said buzzwords.

I'm now moving some videos from the ExtSD\DCIM\CAMERA folder to ExtSD\DCIM\CAMERA\MyFolder and it is taking along half an hour. That could be OK if the files being moved would be big enough, but they are really small.
When I access the ExtSD\DCIM\CAMERA folder I can see the pictures appearing one by one in that folder...
Is there something I could do to accelerate that a little?
Apart of that, if I try to rename a folder "ExtSD\DCIM\CAMERA\MyFolder" ==> "ExtSD\DCIM\CAMERA\Concert With my wife" the operation fails from my Windows 8.1 and from my ES File Explorer.
Coming from Blackberry, the phone was like an external HDD it was blazing fast (limited by external SD card speed of course), but now with my SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 this is at least annoying.
Any idea?

Same here with ACER Liquid. Copied 3Gb of video/music/pictures in no time.

I use FTP Server[^] and update via FileZilla - faster than explorer transfers, particularly with a large number of smaller files.
You looking for sympathy?

It works and it does really fast, but can you send files to your external SD card?
In my case Filezilla states:
550 Requested action not taken. /storage/extSdCard/testFile.doc cannot be written<br />
Critical file transfer error
Is it happening only to me?
Does it has something to do with the new KITKAT sd card policies?
Any idea?

Mine is a Nexus 7 so it doesn't have an external card slot: it had an emulated SD internally which there is no problem in writing.
Have you tried the card in other devices?

Probably is the new restriction in writting to sd cards added in KITKAT... I'll keep looking for a suitable solution...

Don't know if it will make any difference, but have you tried ES's Tools -> Remote Manager? (If that is the method you are using, I apologize.) I use it quite often across the wireless network and have never noticed any speed issues, but I haven't sent very big files between my Samsung and the computer. On a side note, ES impresses the heck out of me.

I'm using ES File Explorer, and it works well, apart it also fails to move files internally from one place to another one...
What it looks like is that if there are pictures or files that can be opened with other applications those apps prevent renaming and moving of those pictures and files...
Anyway, I've not been able to find the app you are suggesting, could you paste a link?

In ES File Explorer itself, on the bottom there is a bar with a '+ New' on the left. Drag that '+ New' to the right and you will get a Fast Access bar. In it there is a 'Tools' category, and the 'Remote Manager' is under it. It is self-explanatory from that point, although I don't think the files are copied via encryption if that is a concern, unless your router does so.
There are lots of goodies in that Fast Access toolbar, which is the reason ES File Explorer has me impressed so much. Under 'Network' there is an 'FTP' section that negates the need for the FTP program someone else recommended, as far as I can tell. The only thing I can't figure out is why it is free - it's worth money, unless there's spyware hidden within it.

OK, clear now, yes, es file explorer works well, it's nice and has plenty of functionalities, but the problem is then that it fails working against the sdcard. 
Probably the problem here is that the KITKAT os version is killing the sdcard access...
I can do it from my computer really slow and sometimes it fails, but when I'm trying to use any app in the cell phone to handle files into the sdcard then failures happen.

You are probably right - it's KitKat. It doesn't make sense, though, as ES is showing the files I'm accessing as being on an SD card on my phone (4.4.2). Are there now two SD cards - one internal and one external? Anyhow, perhaps the other FTP server mentioned above (and not the accessor in ED) will do the trick. Good luck!

Must be, FTP is neither working in ExtsdCard... I can read but not write...
Google has nailed it with this new "no acces to sd" policy...

That sucks! I guess the only option is to take it out and plug it into a card reader on your computer Or hack Android.
(Are you transferring via USB? Everything I've read indicates that should still work properly???)

Yes, it works (mostly): it is really slow and some times it fails in doing standard operations (like shutting down my explorer and realigning desktop icons in my Windows 8.1...
I'll keep searching for a solution and if I find something I'll post a tip with that... crossing fingers here...

Can you keep a portion of your internal storage relatively free, and use it as an intermediary area for your uploaded/downloaded files? Then you might be able to use ES to copy those files from/to your computer via the earlier means, and then use the 'My Files' app which comes with your phone, and is given the appropriate permissions by Google, evidently, to copy them to/from the SD card? Would that speed things up? Or would it even work? It means a lot of fiddling around if it does...
