What's everyone using to encrypt thumbdrives now-a-days as Truecrypt has its issues?
Should I just purchase a Kingston DTVP30 or something?
I have a blank 8GB but can't find any freeware to encrypt it with. Kingston website doesn't have a tool to encrypt a thumbdrive for what I could see.
I have a Windows 7 Pro on my main computer and it doesn't have bitlocker (I do have a technet subscription though).

Depending on your use case, Truecrypt may still be ok (as long as you don't use 7.2, use 7.1 or below).
Despite what happened with it's developers, there doesn't seem to be any known exploits as of yet. If you just need 'good-enough' encryption, it's still fine. Bitlocker works too, but restricts you to Windows.
IMHO, if you need better encryption than Truecrypt, then you need one of these bad boys.[^]

Essentially
If what you are planning to encrypt is so sensitive that Truecrypt isn't sufficient, then just don't store it digitally at all

It's about risk at this point. We have need for backing up the hard copies on a non-cloud service and easy enough for non-tech group member to be able to use it. If it is in Truecrypt, then I would assume a pro (or lucky noob) would be able to break its encryption if it were to be physically compromised.

No, one of these[^].
I mean, that never failed before, right?

They still can be physically compromised..... key's letters can be mixed up out of QUERTY etc.

If you don't work for MI-5, and your porn isn't likely to be sought after by government agencies with huge decryption facilities, TrueCrypt is perfectly secure enough.
If you do work for MI-5, just leave your unencrypted laptop on the back seat of your car.

My future wife experienced screen sharing for first time. She was amazed. Everything of this sort comes under the word online for her. Being a medical professional, I do not really expect much from her. She wants to learn some programming for she can make her own website. Life is going to be fun.
