Just an observation...many humans do that.
And the ones that don't become absolutely focused on one single event that occurred in the past and ignore everything else that has happened since then.

Are you inferring that you are not human?

LOL: not a single event: I've lived through a number of "Labour" (for which read socialist and, sometimes, closet communist) governments and, without fail, they do the same thing each and every time even after promising they won't: tax and spend.

I am stating that most humans do not consider the past when making decisions. Politics has nothing to do with it.

Not sure what that means in terms of my comment. But again politics has nothing to do with my comment.

You are correct in a wider sense but we're talking specifically about a political bloc that promulgates a particular economic stance and justifies it, each time they gain power, on the perceived failings of the previous government rather than admitting (as if that would ever happen) that what they are promising to do will make things even worse.
The thing with 'socialists' is they want everyone to wear a cloth cap and live in a 2-up, 2-down whilst they reap the rewards of being in power.
Conservatives, on the other hand, are quite happy to let you know how rich they already are but at least bring economic common sense to the table (usually). Again, I've lived through a number of these cycles so am under no illusions as to how bad all sides of the spectrum really are; I simply see socialists as the worst possible choice in a democratic society: it leaves everyone poorer.

I don't want to say you are wrong (because you are right in some way). But, well in Germany we had a so called social capitalism (it's still called so, but they perverted the term social) and I think that's a good combination. Everyone can live from the money he earns and still - if you want to and have the right ideas - you can get rich.
Socialism is not possible in our world, it can't work, and capitalism pervertes often the "work" of people, that they can't live from their jobs.

Plus ce change.
However anyone thinking we're in the same situation again should consider that we actually still have a Socialist government.
By that I don't just mean that the current 'Conservative' government is actually increasing spending ( which it is although on nothing useful ) and borrowing but that we are now being governed largely by the EU.
It produces > 70% of our legislation by page count and controls > 40% of policy areas covering considerably more than £100,000,000,000 ( 100 billion ) of annual expenditure. For example our elected government has no more influence over its own environmental policy than Greenpeace, in fact probably less, as it's an example of a full EU 'competancy'. In other words the EU have 100% control of all environmental legislation and policy. (Every time the BBC announce something environmental as 'government' policy they're lying and they know they are)
The EU's faux democratic 'parliament' is majority Socialist controlled with the head of the dominant Socialist block being a previously convicted Red Brigade terrorist who spent a long stretch in prison for blowing people up in the name of Communism.
The unelected Commisson which is where all the power is in the EU is the plaything of its own bureaucrats who have a long standing apparently Socialist agenda determined mostly by their majority selection from a very narrow elite of French civil servants who in no way see themselves as servants to anyone.
However if you are a hard core right wing Thatcherite social Darwinian then do not despair for the EUSSR like the USSR after which so much of it is modelled is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a lie.
Behind all the Socialist facade and all the petty bureacrats working so hard for the false dream of an international Socialist utopia is a deeper darker truth.
At its core the EU is in fact much more like a Faschist organisation than a Socialist one. The only body that can actually recommend laws directly to the Commission is not a government or a convention but a cabal of top business leaders called the European Roundtable of Industrialists (ERT) and the whole 'European Project' as its called was originally sponsored by the neo-feudalist New York banking tycoons who control the US Federal reserve. Such greed worshipping anti-human arch manipulators who could never reasonably be mistaken for Socialists. The 'Euro' currency itself which was designed by the 'Club of Rome', a think tank dominated by international arms dealers and tools of the banking elite, and then promoted by the Bilderberg group of anglo-american big business, bankers and neo-conservative war mongers ( with a few faux Socialists thrown in for good measure ).
So there you have it. We have a fake Conservative government hiding a fake Socialist government hiding a very real power elite who consider themselves both to own your children and to be entitled to take everything else you have because it belongs to them by right.
Me thinks it might be time to wake the sleeping giant.

Poor, poor David I. I feel sorry for him and moreso for the fools that hang on his every word. The worst part is that he has so much of the truth and he's a brilliant presenter so when he mixes it all up with a pack of lies his audiences just swallow it all down and are as oblivious to the difference as he is. A woman signed up for a night course in sexual technique. She was surprised to find the classroom had an apple, an orange, and a pear hung from the ceiling.
"What's this?" she asked.
The instructor had her stand between the hanging fruit and told her, "Swing your hips to the left until you touch the apple. Then swing your hips to the right until you touch the pear. Then swing your hips forward until you touch the orange."
She did as she was told and quickly got a good rhythm going.
The instructor then gave her a piece of chalk and said, "Now go to the blackboard, stick that piece of chalk in your a$$, and write Mississippi twenty times!"

This morning, I spent an hour digging out the car because of the snow. I then spent a further hour digging the road clear to get my car out of the street. On getting onto the street, my car broke down, so I abandoned it and walked the seven miles to work.
At one point I had to take shelter in a bus stop as the blizzards were that bad they were forcing me back, but I still pushed on. Finally, two hours late I arrived for work, to be greeted by my boss.
"Bloody hell Dave, I'm surprised you're here. I wouldn't have minded if you didn't come in with all this snow" he said.
"Well" I said, "My wife made me come in."
"Really?" he asked. "What did she say?"
"Don't bother going to work, we can spend all day in bed."

The comedians Jack Benny and George Burns were long-time friends. One day at lunch, Benny couldn't decide whether or not to butter his bread.
"I like butter on my bread, but my diet forbids it. Maybe I should call my wife and ask her what to do."
"Jack, you're a grown man," said Burns. "You don't need to ask your wife whether or not you should butter your bread."
"You're right. I'll have the butter."
Two hours later, when the waiter presented the check, Burns pointed to Benny and said, "He's paying."
Benny, a notorious tightwad, said, "What? Why should I pay?"
Burns said, "Because if you don't, I'll tell your wife about the butter!"
