It's not a problem with Boost itself - Even for ACE, we'd need to do an Assessment to prove that it works the way we expect it to work. That's a company guideline to prevent lawsuits (just in case), and because we (the project) currently don't have the time or the budget to do the assessment we decided to stick with log4cxx, which is a rather nasty piece of software but was already assessed by other projects.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

I actually debated long and hard with myself about that and the exact number seemed...overly precise given its size.
I guess, though, when has "overly precise" ever been a bad thing in computer science?

Actually there are degrees of precision. Sure, in accounting 2 decimal places is enough, but I would wager others would consider that insufficient.

I am taking an accounting class and had that happen. I quickly found an off-by-one error I had made (893.83 instead of 893.84). 
Accounting is interesting, although I don't know why Ivy Tech requires it for a computer programming degree. (They won't this fall, though, as the entire info tech department is being put into their own building and a complete restructuring of the classes needed is being finalized, and they removed Accounting from the requirements (it still will be available as an elective, though)).
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

The cost of gathering data to support a 98% estimate is 6X.
Depending on the problem 95% accuracy may be all you need.
Please don't come up with some extreem scenario to justify 98% accuracy. In those cases you spent the extra money to be that precise, but only when it is needed.

Two blokes, a mathematician and an engineer agreed to take part in an experiment.

Seeing the post below (congrats on your new child, soon sleep will be a fond memory), I am put in mind of the life cycle of an insect and how it is relevant to humans.
Larvae - Pupae - Imago
First all they do is wriggle and eat their own weight each day.
Then they cocoon themselves away and sleep for ages.
Finally they emerge as either beautiful butterflies or aggressive wasps or those poor b@stards whose job it is to roll around and collect other people's sh+t all day.
