In the winter you have the snow so you can ski and whatever but what do you do in the summer as far as outside activities?
Along with Antimatter and Dark Matter they've discovered the existence of Doesn't Matter which appears to have no effect on the universe whatsoever!

In the winter many of us go to ski, I personly not because of a bad knee (had a child operation on it).. I like the snow to watch it and walking on the fresh snow is nice (with the apropriate shoes). Walking on old snow (icy snow) is not so nice.. I the summer I like to go to walking here (playing tourist, many people come here to visit this area (southern Switzerland canton Ticino, just bordering Italy)

Sounds like fun. I'm from Florida and we liked to go to the beach and watch the tourists. They don't realize what the sun can do to them and how fast.

This is specialy true when you are in the mountains: you have a much higher risk of sun burning there as the air is much thinner..

Hadn't thought of that, you probably see tourists that are bright red also. I laugh but I know it hurts.

I used to warn them about getting burnt but they would laugh and tell me "how bad could it be?" and then the next day listen to them moan and bitch, so I quite warning them and just smiled when they moaned.

Have you tried cross country skiing? I also have a bad knee from a motorcycle accident many years ago but used to go cross country skiing when I lived up north where there was snow in the winter.
It takes a little practice but once you get used to it but once you have mastered the basics it is a lot of fun and good exercise.

Hooray for Spring! I also live in the SE US, a little farther south than you. It's amazing just how fast the colors change from brown to green. I'm actually looking forward to cutting the grass this weekend!
As an aside, my wife and I will be making a trip out to ABQ this summer. (her mother lives there) We are renting a car and going up to Durango, CO. Have a safe trip!

I thought the equinox was the 21st? That's certainly the traditional 'first day of spring', at any rate.
We've had something approaching spring weather here in England for about a week. Hopefully it sticks around. We didn't really get a proper winter this year, and the endless weeks of 2-5C and rain-bearing depressions every 3 days has been pretty grim, so I'm happy to see the back of it.

Solargraphy Analemmas[^]
This picture uses a technique called solargraphy. It is a rather old method using a pinhole camera and slow reacting photographic paper: this allows the photographer to record the motion of the sun. This particular image was made by taking three one-minute exposures every day for a year, resulting in an analemma[^] at mid-morning, noon and mid-afternoon.
