First the electricity - now restored - then Dij comes in and releases a nice, fresh, live mouse.
Then after I chase said mouse round the house, he catches it, takes it outside and drops it.
I grab the cat, take him in indoors and give the mouse a chance to escape.
Sort out the mess I'd made trying to catch something smaller and faster than me, then let Dij outside again.
So he catches it again, and brings it home dead this time. And disembowels it on the living room carpet...

Yes Dij is teaching OG to hunt, because he fears that OG is a bad example of a cat. In nature the little bigger cousins of Dij are bringing alive small pray for their kittens. Its touching view.
Its the same like when the furry ears jump on you at 4 am in the morning to show you that the day is starting and the pray will escape if you don't get up. What better view from the rising sun in a working day

Not Dij, nor our previous cat, Bill, but the one before that, Beldin, used to do that. Well sort of.
This was a big cat. 9 1/2 ~ 10 Kg is not a small size domestic short hair - and all of it muscle. Every morning, he would march onto the bed and stand on my bladder to wake me up - because he realised that if I was up, so She Who Opens The Cat Food Tins would be also.
The only problem was if I wasn't lying on my back. Since he couldn't stand on my bladder he would headbut me on the nose. Hard. Very, very hard. I learned to sleep on my back almost exclusively...

Don't get me wrong i like dogs but i am a cat person. They are more independent, clean, not so annoying like barking at 3 am (i care about my neighbors, if someone should suffer that's will be me alone) and i like things with claws

He does. Most dogs are trained to do their business outside, because their business is usually bigger than a cat's. I don't really want a dog to poop into a little box, that would smell awful.
There are a lot of independent dogs around, especially on farms - The problem is that people are terrified by "Fight Dogs" who were trained to be aggressive, and instead of taking the ones who mistrained the dog on a leash there are currently a lot of laws in preparation to keep dogs on a leash.
If your dog barks at 3 AM there are two possible reasons: Someone tries to break into your house, or you have just a badly trained dog.
Most people try to compare cats and dogs, even though you can't compare them: A cat is something that is around, comes and goes whenever it wants and barely can be trained well. A dog would immediately give his life to protect you, and is very controllable if you trained him well.

Cats can be trained, its hard yes but they can be trained. One of my cats love to play fetch with his human slaves with one little foam ball for cats. And i am not kidding he is playing fetch. And we even didn't try to teach him.

I've known dogs that have to be physically picked up and moved if they walked up to a tree - because they couldn't work out how to go round!
And I've known a cat that worked out that if he jumped from the third step...onto the wine rack...then onto the top of the cabinet...lean over and chew through the elastic band between the two door knobs...then sneak your way through the glass doors...and he could serve himself his cat treats.
But, then, I've known bright dogs, and had a cat that used to run full tilt into parked motorcycles...you get a good spectrum in both species, just like humans.
But...think of it this way: which species do you expect to perform tricks? Go outside when you want it to? Use an outside lawn as a toilet even when it is raining? Or work for a living for the police, deaf / blind and so forth.
And which gets to eat when it wants, sleep when it wants, go out when it wants, and it it has to do is sound nice when it decides to sleep on you?

Dogs, if you happen to have a big lawn and a dog-door. I'm not kidding, I once had a border collie sleeping on me.
Edit: I have to correct myself about the intelligence of dogs, a friend of mine has a chihuahua who happens to bang its head on the table if it tries to jump on her leap (while my friend sits at the table). Repeatedly.

Yes i agree it depends a lot from the owner. For example me i prefer sitting in my pyjamas early in the Saturday in front of my pc and i love when a cat comes and sit in my lap and let me pet her. I don't like early walks. I had a dog for a while as a little (watching a friend's dog for a little) and i still cant understand how the hell i was awake before the alarm clock to walk the dog. I remember when i came back from school (elementary school - how did i manage to wake up so early ?!) he was all over me licking my face. I was happy but i prefer two little yellow eyes watching me and let me pet them.
