Yeah, seems a bit odd. You make a good point. I can only say 2 things:
1 - I'm allowed to do harm to them if they touch me in the sport.
2 - Training/competing doesn't effect me quite like "casual" touching.

I wouldn't call it harassment. I couldn't consider it that unless I had at least mentioned it to him, and then he kept it up.
I really don't agree with "subtle" harassment people try to pull of just because they are passive/scared. The only thing that would make that different is if it were blatant sexual advances without warrant. Reporting something as a harassment crime is serious business IMO.

I've no moral problem with hand to hand combat. It was pretty natural when I was a kid (i.e. if you mouthed off at recess you got punched).
The problem is that you get to go to jail after these days. People don't generally like to remain friends afterwords either, which is another thing that has changed over the years.

I do MMA, which involves some boxing. I'm more of a Thai guy.

1 - I'm allowed to be violent with them when they touch me
2 - This, for some reason, doesn't seem the same to me as "casual" touching.

In the UK there is a campaing to teach The Underwear Rule[^] - it's to teach kids what it's not permitted for anyone to touch without permission first, without talking about sex or similar confusing (for 5 year olds and such like) matters.
I'd expect to be punched or prosecuted if I touched any work colleague in The Underware Zone (male or female) - it's almost certain to be seen as sexual assault at worse.
Tell him. Doesn't matter if it's not intended "that way" - it's still unacceptable. If he doesn't listen and does it again, take it upwards. His boss and / or police - your choice.
I wouldn't accept it, and I wouldn't expect anyone in the company I worked for to either.

I've read this list with interest, noting the attempts at "understanding" on your part. I just have one question - are you the only guy he gets touchy with? Having asked that, a hand on the shoulder, pat on the back, etc. I would not sweat, but a smack on the rear? Yeah, that's way, way over the line, and he would have passed my "nope, that's enemy action" line.
The very fact that you are uncomfortable with the situation... and that you are making excuses for not holding him accountable is the exact reason why this sort of crap needs to stop. It's just not professional.
It's your call where your limit is. What I would do at a minimum is start a log and document every incident. At some point, he is going to go too far, and you are going to say something. Since he's past my "enemy action" line, I suspect dark motives. Arm yourself with documentation.

Umm don't really get the whole change the cover for a different readership thing. I have to admit the more adult cover tends to look '70s grubby rain coat brigade (if you get my drift!)

Was just about to post about this. The cover is pretty creepy and according to Penguin the picture isn't even meant to represent the main female antagonists.  
The "Lolita" comparison is interesting, the penguin cover to that is much more subdued, which is ironic as the book as you'd expect, really isn't. Though the cover being "misleading" should only mean that illiterate perverts will be out of pocket, so not necessarily a bad thing.
