In both of those cases, the style guides vary. At the risk of citing Wikipedia[^], it recommends an apostrophe for single letters. Other style guides disagree:

Chicago manual of style:
Q. Is it the three R’s or Rs? The NYT seems to use R’s—I thought I’d double check with you folks before I publish something.

A. Either way is fine, but Chicago style is Rs. (The New York Times evidently prefers to follow NYT style.) Please see CMOS 7.14.
Similarly:
In fact, style rules at The Times (and some other publications, including the Chicago Manual of Style) do call for using an apostrophe in the plural of abbreviations that include periods.

But do not use apostrophes for plurals of abbreviations without periods, or for plurals formed from figures: TVs, PCs, DVDs; 1990s, 747s, size 7s.

Either way: you disagreed with two of his items wrong on fairly obscure uses of punctuation. How do you go from that to, "the guy is illiterate"?

I should add that I agree with your use of the apostrophe (at least in the acronym camp), I'm just being a lame tone troll here. (Some days I think there is just too much crankiness in the Lounge)
