Really cool. Interesting smooth video made from the real jumpy bits of life.
Also, I notice that it makes videos of life more like the smooth transitioning you see in video games (especially FPS) which was generally created so you could fake faster frame rates.
The real life jumpy version is annoying to watch and the hyperlapse version is very nice and watchable.
Interesting.

Assuming they take the full 48 hours and aren't down for another single second this year, that's only a 99.45% uptime rating. (two 9s)
We were dealing with five 9s levels of service years ago. - A rating that means you get just under 5 minutes and 16 seconds of downtime per year. As the article states, "Enterprise services typically measure downtime in seconds or less".

It's a hardware problem. One of the banks of flash memory has just worn out and can no longer be read. The fix is just to remove that entire bank from service.
Unfortunately, even if you don't hit the maximum reprogramming limit and kill it that way, flash chips are only good for about a decade. Curiosity has just hit 4000 days of operation; top binned chips or not old age is probably going to catch up to more of them in the next few years, and losing the ability to store data overnight will be a major capability hit even if nothing else fails.

I find my Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia) to be much more usable than my Android tablet or my wife's iPhone 5.
A positive attitude may not solve every problem, but it will annoy enough people to be worth the effort.

Estimates are that approx 38 Million Windows 8 phones sold.
It is interesting that a company & product can be considered a failure when it has sold 38 million units.
It's a bit disturbing since it means that you can only get a product that the other 5 billion people like, which means, you are a minion and we will tell you what to like.
For the record, I do not own a windows 8 phone. I have a Nexus 7 tablet (android of course) and a Stupid-Phone and a laptop running Windows 8.1 and another laptop running Ubuntu.

Microsoft has been trying to create generally accepted IT and software development certifications for at least two decades. In an attempt to distinguish between those who actually know the material and those who are just good at memorizing study guides they’ve tried a variety of tactics. A certification for knowing what you're doing? Where's the brain dump site for that?
