With Windows 10, I've ended up with a situation where UWP apps (Store apps) will not update or install. All interactions with the store fail.
According to the log file (ReportingEvents.Log), it seems the issue is "WSUpdate Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073cf9: Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 UWP Runtime Package."
This brings back fond memories of Windows 95 times, with msvcrtXX.dll causing issues between apps.
I'm not sure if the root cause is the same for other people, but looking at answers.microsoft.com, reveals that a number of people have faced similar issues, a number of "solutions" have been posted, none of which work for me. Frequently, the only solution that works is to reset the PC (i.e. reinstall).
As most of the app's I use are casual, I really don't think I can be bothered with spending a couple of days (at least) reconfiguring and reinstalling to get these working. But I must admit, it seems that for Microsoft, those who cannot learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
(Recently, excepting the great improvements re attitudes to other platforms and Open Source, it seems that MS are fully aiming to reach the 90% failure rate mentioned below).

That sounds like a bug in the update client then.
If I had a Windows 10 system it might be an interesting one to track down.

For me the question is:
Is it a W10 original installed or is it an updated W7/8?
In case:
a.) update: your mistake, sorry
b.) from scratch: Problem from MS?
Sorry, but I never do "update" an OS for major versions. A lot of very simple apps have Problems to to update. So why we should assume that an OS can be updated?

Gawd, did you have to put that back into my mind? I was much happier with it forgotten.
Do you use many "apps"? I find them slow and featureless, compared to the real (desktop) versions or equivalent desktop apps.
You can always double the size of displayed items and fonts (Control Panel\Display) and run desktop apps in full-screen mode, if you enjoy the "toy computer from the 1980s" feel.

Not really, just the odd casual game, largely played by my son.
I'll just avoid them until this is resolved, but after an initial response from MS, seeking further details, silence for 3 days now.

MS Edge has a list of articles to read on your blank page. I just realized that they now track what you read by dimming it. Not sure if it's done server-side or client-side.

It's just the same dimming (i.e. followed-link styling) that happens with all followed links on every browser. Sheesh. This can, of course, be overridden with CSS or inline styling.

I get moments where everything is dim ... with the computer turned off. Of course, that could be just The Simulation doing an update, or, refreshing itself during a reduced bandwidth update caused by rogue gravity waves.

There was one episode of Top Gear (the real one with Jeremy Clarkson) where they were discussing how only women named their cars. Turned out no men in the audience named theirs but some ladies did.

On the other hand, some men name theirs (nuff said, this is the Lounge, not the Soapbox!), and I have never heard of a lady doing that!!!

I keep away from the Southern United States as much as possible, but as I've been told by those who spent time there it is very common for men to name their cars.* My brother, as well, went to college in the Mid-Western part of the country. He felt compelled to name his car as everyone else around him did (his was a parody of their strange custom).
* So common that an asinine TV series "Dukes of Hazard" had their car named "The General Lee".

I finally solved the issues I was having with the Sony TV by performing a factory reset.
It seems that a bug in the software version that was on the TV could cause inputs to stop working.
I updated the TV to the latest version, which has a fix for the bug.
Technology can be a pain sometimes.
