Perhaps there is no need of microbes to explain the evolution advantage of altruism under certain social context in which member relations are many to many. There are many examples in real life that "good, but not foolish members", which most likely are intelligent and have certain altruism quality, are treated better by (many) others and they end up getting more rewards. On the other hand, selfish "smart" members are treated the same by others for self protection and end up getting less. In the end, the group with more selfish members lose the competitive advantages in a larger social context ...
OK I haven't formulate a mathematical model for this "theory" to find the level of altruism needed to be regarded as "good" ...

I noticed much the same. Alas, the questions are posted, for the most part, in local time working hours. As such, the Euro's get first crack at them. They leave us behind the dregs.
Occasionally, an exception, but buy and large, all the good stuff's been taken.

There are some smart peeps on here, so any L.A. vets have tips to shortening commute time? I live in the valley and considering a job in Culver City. So I don't spend all day on the road, sucking the life out of me, I figure the best way to avoid traffic is to find a way to start my day besides the proverbial 9AM. As in, if I'm gonna work out, get in close proximity to the job for around 7AM, workout then go to work to avoid the blunt of it.
Any tips I'm missing?

Wherever you go, it'll take you around an hour each way (give or take) in heavy traffic. You have to fight the 101 and the 405. As I recall, you're in the east valley so 101 west, 405 south. No way around it from the Valley to Culver City. I used to work in Century City and left around 615 to get there for 7am. You can try some of the canyon roads - Benedict Canyon is about the best to get over the hill. Don't go Laurel Canyon! The other route is Sepulveda - if you get lucky the 405 is packed and that is empty and then you can use surface streets to get to Culver City; once you cross Santa Monica it gets easier.
My advice: if you live in the valley, work in the valley.
