Hi All,
I am after opions on what you would think if a new hire turned up for his first day carrying a lot of stuff (not to be used at work), looks like I am going to turn up with a Bass (in a case) and a few other things in a bag. I want to make a good impression (my Boss is a Bass Player..)

Personally, I'd wait a bit with the personal stuff. Get your sea legs first, make sure the job and you are a good fit before setting up house.

I have to agree with jeron1 - turn up to the first day smartly dressed, with all your details handy (bank account for your wages, NI number, that kind of thing) but not a lot else. I probably wouldn't even bring lunch on day 1 - though I mostly did in all my jobs - but bring cash for sandwich or something instead.
Get a feel for the place before you start making it look like you rented the room!

Right, the Bass is a Squire P-Bass that belongs to a friend, which I had to set up only coming with me as I have had to take it to bits to repair it (Ground wire came off), My Boss is a Bass Player who has played at the 'Fleece & Firkin' one of the semi-pro joints in Bristol. I was told this by the agent...Haven't discussed it with the Boss yet. For the record I have 75 Reissue Jazz, 57 reissue P, Warwick Corvette Fretless & Washburn 5 String... Ricks I have worked on, while cool looking the stock pick-ups are a tad low output and the Truss Rod(s) are a pain to adjust, even with the over expensive tool!! Look but don't touch... my advise...for what its worth...

 Sounds like sage advice on the Rick...and btw, sounds like a nice stable. If you really wanted to strike up a conversation, I'd take the '57 instead!

The 57' is not orginal (for a resissue) as It was one of the batch that got shipped with a faulty pick ups (see Daves World Of Fun Stuff on You Tube!). Caused all sorts of problems getting it fixed, took it back to the shop, they ordered a replacement, got a blind man to solder it in, still the same problem (resistance was around 15K ohms instead of 500 ohms) took it to a tame store (Manson Guitars, if you ever have the chance use them, honest, good customer service, proper lutier!) got a Bare Knuckle 58 in it work lovely!, my favorite is the Jazz (or the Warwick, I bought a fretless because, Jaco & Jack Bruce!)

Nice thought but take the minimum possible until you have the lie of the land. Taking the bass in to impress the boss is, quite frankly, a little creepy.

Well I wasn't taking it to impress the Boss, I was taking it because I needed to return it to its owner. But you have a point.
