Edge has 3.78% of the market share (latest figures I could find: Browser market share[^] ) and Bing mostly only gets used by mistake because bloody Cortana insists on it ...

Seriously: I find that Edge gives me all I want, and it's fast. When searching for something I will use both Bing and Google if necessary.

Unless you want Google to achieve a complete monopoly over internet search, you should use Bing. Only rival competition will help keep Google a little more honest in what search results they display to you.

Actually, if you consider Google's business model, sale of ads and follow-up click-throughs brought about by the search results (clearly labeled "Ad" in my browser), they are quite honest. That's why it's "Free".
Sounds like that piece-of-crap lawsuit in the EU that would fine Google billions for doing just what it's supposed to do (and blaming Google that it has too much of the market).
There's a lot of things I hate about Google - but that they prioritize paying clients in searches is absolutely not one of them

Yes, they may be somewhat transparent now but what would happen if they achieved complete and total dominance over search? If Google search was the only way to find things on the internet, they could easily engage in a pay-to-display model where the your site is ranked not on relevance but on how much you pay Google. If you don't pay, it doesn't show up (in top X amount of results).
Dont' get me wrong, I like a lot of Google's web products and use them frequently but I also understand the dangers of economic monopolies. By dividing my searches between Google and Bing, I feel like I am doing my part in preventing one from crushing the other, thereby increasing diversity of services on the internet.

That's the current model. Afterwards the real ranked finds show.
Even that, however, has it's own dirty laundry as SEO can be bought and paid for. When it was big news (i.e., the EU lawsuit) - in the EU, Google had 90% market share whilst in the US, only 70%. I noted the values as, for some reason, the EU (having no viable search engine of their own) was holding Google accountable because their own citizens prefer it over the alternatives.
Really - considering the brilliance of the average PC owner, a bigger worry would be who paid to have their search engine set as the default, along with the bloatware per-installed on the system, trying to get you to choose the readily available product (paid placement) over a wiser choice. And, of course, toolbars.
For better or worse, this is indeed what makes the world go round: the competition is simply relocated to the vendors. After all, do you think Bing is without product placement payment? If is is, what are the odds that the same companies pay for placement on both.
It has no need to become "less transparent" - they're making out well just the way it is.

That's kind of the point that I am trying to make. Things are working out now because there is competition in search. I just don't want to see a world where there is only one source of information left. I don't want see any one company have the power to choose what information we see and don't see. I don't live behind the Great Firewall and I certainly don't want to.

The problem is that Google is a better search engine. Google are well aware of what they do well (search engines, translators, human interfaces, browsers, artificial planets, ...) and Microsoft ... um ... what are they good at these days? Apart from Visual Studio (which is getting slower and less bug-fixed with each revision), SQL Server, and Excel (the finest spreadsheet known to man, buggered up a bit by the Ribbon) all their products are either poor, or "better with version n".
There is a reason why Edge has less than 4% of the market, despite being heavily hyped and installed with the OS: it's not as good for real world users as Chrome / Firefox.
There is a reason why Bing doesn't get as many users, despite being heavily hyped and tied into the OS: It's not as good for real world users as Google.
And until MS wakes up, smells the coffee and realises that the real world is ignoring their products, that isn't going to improve.
Don't get me wrong, I like Windows (just 7 was better than 8 or 10, but I have to use 10), I love VS; but MS are shooting themselves in the foot every time they step outside their core competence. And these days, that's everywhere they go.

This is not entirely accurate. Each search engine is better in filling certain demands. At work, were most of my searches are geared around C#, MVC, ASP.NET, T-SQL, or another in-use Microsoft product, I use Bing more-often-than-not because the results are better tailored and ranked to my technical searches. I use Google when I need access to a broad category where their depth of search excels.
Oh, and Bing Image search just kills Google Image search in, ahem, certain ways.

Unless you want to find absolutely nothing rleated to what you're searching, you shouldn't use Bing. At work we can use only Bing and boy, it sucks. Sometimes I make searches from my phone on Google with the same search string and I find immediately what I need.

I also don't like the Windows 10 updates, i am using mobile data for my all shores and i only have 3Gb per week for my mobile provider bundle that Windows 10 updates just ruin those

If you open a "blank" Windows explorer in the current (latest? I dunno, what time of day is it in Redmond?) version of Win10, it opens on "This PC" - and the (still stupid, still there) ribbon shows "Uninstall or change a program", "System properties", and "Manage" - all of which are actually useful but I don't remember seeing there before.
Is this new, or another sign of my forthcoming slide into senility?
