Hi All,
I'm in trouble, two things have gone wrong today, First missed the usual train (trouble getting out of bed). Second this PC choked on boot and gave a suitably cryptic message ('No Bootable Media'). The PC's are not controlled via our IT Dept and are from Daisy. Corporate politics mean we can't connect our network to the corporate network and have to change over to use the corporate network, which is managed by Daisy. I managed to get this PC back up by running the BIOS check disk, it worked and I now I don't know what went wrong...it's alive but for how long

Talk to boss - if it's a HDD problem - and that's likely if check disk fixed it - they don't get better! Generally a "noticeable" failure of an HDD is a good sign that it's dying - backup your data ASAP, and look to replace the PC / HDD (with an SSD if you can!).
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Panic ye not I have only just started with this PC, So pretty much everything is already on OneDrive and my network partition, once Windows came to life I ran though every thing and double checked it was backed up. There has been a rash of the Daisy machines failing hard drive wise (the guy opposite me took 5 machines before one worked properly)...

Perhaps you should get yourself two rattles, put some feathers on your head and dance around the computer for at least two hours. Chanting will probably also help. 
Why do people who should know it better always get supersticious when something goes wrong? Just stop freaking out, use it while it lasts and make sure that not too much work is lost if it drops dead.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

I'm an engineer, when something doesn't work it gets taken apart and fixed, if it can't be fixed it is an example to my other possessions... Plus I have backed everything up, it strikes me as odd we can no longer use the onsite IT dept to solve these problems we have to phone a flower...

Thank god. Normal users often do get supersticious and start doing weird things. I knew someone who went into the device manager and randomly changed the interrupts assigned to the device that he held responsible for his problems.

That sort of stuff usually only makes sense to some managers. Support gets cheaper somehow and the time you lose while waiting for them to show up is someone else's problem.

Urfaust - Trail Of The Conscience Of The Dead[^]
One of the best metal bands of the Netherlands is back with a new full length!
Well... Metal? I'm not sure how to label it anymore, maybe post-black/doom/ambient/drone or some such.
Anyway, I had the luck of ordering the very limited edition which is very nice 
But it's still the music that counts.
And this song has been on repeat this week.
The vocals take some getting used to, but you may just skip to 6:30 minutes where the guy shuts up or to 7:20 where the music gets really intense
After almost 13 minutes I can only hit repeat!

First of all, thanks for sharing! I always look forward to Fridays to see what Sander has picked for us this week!
Second, I did listen to this week's pick in it's entirety and though it got slightly interesting at the end, was just a little too 'dark' and 'death metal' for my liking...oh well, maybe next week.
Thirdly, in the interest of sharing new or interesting musical gems, (at least in our own opinion) I'd like to share one of the best prog tracks/videos that I have heard/seen in a while. It's a long track from the prog-rock supergroup 'Flying Colors'...Steve Morse, Dave LaRue, Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, and Casey McPherson. (who?) Not only is this a great track just to listen to, but the video is the real showstopper...if nothing else, skip to around 5:20 to the part where the transcriptions for the solos start flying across the screen...simply amazing! So, here it is then: Flying Colors - Infinite Fire - YouTube[^] Musicians will probably like this one as it really focuses on the instruments.
Finally, I see they finally got the link pasting problem fixed!

Keep on sharing, I've got some of my own favorites from the SOTW reactions!
I've never really been a fan of prog rock myself.
The same goes with Flying Colors.
Great musicianship, they play all the good notes, they have the "best drummer in the world" Mike Portnoy, but I'm rarely impressed by it (and the solo transcripts are pretty cool!).
I think it has something to do with the average prog rock production (which is very clean) and the focus on notes rather than a song and/or atmosphere.
And definitely the vocals, which I rarely like in prog rock.
One prog rock album I always liked is Fear of a Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree, and mainly because of this one awesome song: Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize - YouTube[^]
You might like that one too if you're into prog rock

I've listened to Wages of Sin and Anthems of Rebellion a lot in high school.
I don't know any of their songs after that, but I did see them live a few years ago (with Alissa White-Gluz)

Serenity in Fire is really the only Kataklysm album I know.
Probably because I was more into death metal when that album came out
Lately, I've been listening to some very awesome death metal tracks like Dyscarnate - Nothing Seems Right[^] and Letters From The Colony - Galax[^] (the latter was SOTW at the expense of the former some weeks ago).
I can't seem to find any albums that keep my attention from start to end anymore.
