I have read someplace that programmers should learn a new programming language every year (I think it’s code complete, not sure, though), but if you cannot do so, I suggest to at least learn the following five programming languages to do great in your career. Top 5 reasons your eyes should roll today. You won't believe #6!

Instant gratification pervades this article: let's hack something together yesterday. This may be reasonable coming from a prof, but nothing enduring is put together that way. It's all well and good for programming contests or getting homework done over the weekend, but for what's important in serious industrial applications, most of this is sheer bollocks.

Personally, I like The C, it good and I write bits in the SQL because my database thingy speak that too and I no want it to be lonely. Sometimes I do The C-Sharp because it nice note on the piano and The F# because it leading note to G which I learn next week. Next week I gets PhD in computers and will be having jam and buns for tea.
