So my girlfriend got a flu shot, and the very next day I came down with flu symptoms, mainly fever and aches. Fortunately the worst of the symptoms lasted only a couple days, and except for the brain fog and residual body aches, I feel somewhat better. They say that the general feeling of fatigue can last a couple weeks.  We'll see!
So, I call upon the experts here - can you get the flu from someone who just got a flu shot?

No, the shot is an inactivated virus, so it can't spread to others, regardless of how intimate the contact - it can't even breed, it just "trains" your immune system to be ready for the "live" version.
On the other hand, the home where Herself works has just closed one building to visitors because of a Norovirus outbreak which can be "brought home". 
All her clothes are now on boil wash protocol ...

after many otherwise intelligent sounding suggestions that achieved nothing the nice folks at Technet said the only solution was to low level format my hard disk then reinstall my signature. Sadly, this still didn't fix the issue!

Was it actually flu, or was it man-flu? Man-flu is a nightmare and can be caught from literally ANYTHING! Even something as non-obvious as looking at the word "Monday" can trigger it. BAM! out for 6 weeks!
I would look at other sources such as: has the girlfriend recently mentioned an upcoming plan to visit her parents? or perhaps mentioned a spot of DIY might be needed around the house?

As I understand it, it takes a few days (2 to 3?) for flu symptoms to be felt once you get exposed to it. So, probably too early to have come from her. You could very well have coincidentially been exposed a few days prior however.

Consolation (not really):
The current popular strain of the flu (a type 2) is apparently not one of the types the shot protects against (in its current mutation). Although she may not have given you the flu, you may yet give it to her.
Aside: is it just me or has the success rate of predicting flu strains for the shots been rather disappointing for the last bunch of years. Online searches showed varying interpretations of various data.

Both my doctors (primary and endo) have told me that flu shots are worthless now. They are still required to tell you to get them. That is fact, not opinion. From a doctor, not the internet.

My opinion on immunizations:
"Permanent" immunity - I go for it. Or, at least long term (like tetanus) also a good deal.
"Transients" like the flu vaccines, which are (if you're lucky) only useful for the current season? Not so far. I'm getting old enough where risk/reward (and a very powerful immune system is not going to last forever) are making it a consideration. But not more than that.
Anti-vaccine ? People haven't lived in the times when these diseases ran rampant. Polio. Diphtheria. Others. Amazing amounts of misery and death. Now that the herd-immunity the anti-vacciners have benefited from is waning (as they aggregate in un-vaccinated clots), it is unfortunately, affecting others.
Admittedly, there's commercial/government interest (read that conspiracy) to keep the vaccine makers in the money (not just flu, but the very costly HPV shots).

No, nor can you get the flu from the shot itself.
I'm taking immunosuppressants, and get the flu shot most of the time when I get the reminder. There's no risc at all. The vaccine does not contain the live flu, but dead training-material.
You or her would have caught the flu earlier, with symptoms breaking out just now. Easy way to get rid of the flu by helping your immune-system. You know how the immune-system raises the bodytemperature? It does that because the system works better at a somewhat higher temperature and the virusses work less efficient. Warm a cup of milk, add a teaspoon of ground black pepper. Mix, drink, and go to bed, with a lot of sheets and blankets. Keep warm!
It's an old trick that works (dunno why exactly, since the pepper doesn't raise body temp) but you will be feeling better next day, albeit a bit dehydrated and slow the next day.

My father has a more palatable version: Make tea with lemon and honey, add a shot of whiskey (or whisky ), drink, and go to bed with lots of blankets. He (and I) swear by it!

Or a hot gin toddy:
Juice of one orange, freshly squeezed
1 oz Gin
1 tsp honey
Put in mug, add boiling water, stir to dissolve honey. Drink up!
Adjust Gin and honey to taste.
Not guaranteed to cure anything, but it certainly eases the discomfort.
