What is normal?
Is it analogous to Average?
Then what makes average? Is it a mode, median, or the mean? Or is it that we are in a pre-defined range?

So... my NQ (Normally Quotient) is based on the deviance of others. yep

The only problem about 'normal' that it changes its meaning over time and over place... When my mother refers to normal, she does not mean the same as me or you... So what is normal?
I'm living in a community with normal and different-from-normal people - the only real difference is that the later group has a doctor-signed certificate about it...

I think that while it's true that what can specifically mean normal is culturally and temporally bound, the general meaning of normal, to wit, characterized by the behavior of most people most of the time isn't so much.

It all depends on how you use it.

The activity to bring food to table 3 times a day and provide a roof for a family may be very normal or boring to many people in the IT world with good job and nice education. But that is not the case for the majority of the people in the real world.

Heck even having a normal school/College life is a challenge. Many At risk kids will love to have normal life.
Student who is struggling or a professional who is below average, for them being able to be normal with others means a lot and needs determination.

So stop painting a broad brush and degrade others

all i argued in that OC was that normal was about not leaving one's comfort zone. That's as close to "degrading" anyone as that went, and I wouldn't say that qualifies. Furthermore, is it inaccurate?

No you did not. Because you assume that normal is not leaving one comfort zone which is way off the mark. Majority of people want to be in normal aka comfort zone and try hard for that.
And you also said normal is boring!!!
Tell that to majority of people who are struggling to be normal.

Normal != comfort zone.

I find average, typical, mundane to be boring.

Context is everything.

I used to volunteer for a charity that provides emotional support to people by phone, email, text ...
It is amazing how many people would say "I don't think I am normal", when the real problem was how other people would not just accept them for what they were.
