In a gridview, in controls, on buttons? You have to give A LOT more details.

You will have to supply a lot more information if you expect to get a decent answer. You say you have a problem but you fail to describe any kind of a problem. Putting a ? at the end of a vague sentence does not make it a question. What is your problem? What is the schema of the data? What database?

what's a selected record as per you?
Are you talking about, when you select something from a dropdownlist, then the corresponding record should be displayed in the gridview? Its my wild guess.
Can you please be more detailed? Or post the code in which you are having problem.
