How to hide your URL from users

Christopher Smit asked:

Open original thread
I was wondering if it is possible to hide your URL from visitors on your site.

For example:

If my homepage URL is http://www.mydomain.co.za/pages/home.php.

How do I change that to for instance http://www.mydomain.co.za?

I do not want to show the /pages/home.php for reasons like:

I might have a file download on the page and if a user can figure out that these files are for instance in /files/myfile.zip then he can download it like that. Why is this n problem? Lets say the user needs to pay for the file or he needs to subscribe.

Long, useless story short. How do I do this?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

When answering a question please:
  1. Read the question carefully.
  2. Understand that English isn't everyone's first language so be lenient of bad spelling and grammar.
  3. If a question is poorly phrased then either ask for clarification, ignore it, or edit the question and fix the problem. Insults are not welcome.
  4. Don't tell someone to read the manual. Chances are they have and don't get it. Provide an answer or move on to the next question.
