Hi there,
I am working on a requirement management system which should be able to extract requirements from the SRS and other Requirement specification documents, which are in the .doc or .docx format.
I want to store it in an access database.

I am using office11.0 library and dont want to process whole document {so dont want to first extract all text to another file or in memory and then perform search or other operation.

Can anyone please suggest me how to do it without usig any other 3rd party s/w or library.

Someway through which I can match the patterns in the word file and directly extract relevant data to the corresponding field in the database.

As I am new to .net Plz explain the process and any code examples will be greatly appreciated...

My data base has following fields
Req_ID (PK)

The SRS or other documents are expected to have a format like:

Document Title[not needed]
[Some Text not needed]
Functional/NonFunctional Requirements:[Type comes from here]
1.[Req_Title]: [Req_desc].
2.[Req_Title]: [Req_desc].[other fild values will be picked from here]
[other text not needed]

I can't use xml as the documents can be in the older versions of office also.

there is something like com interop libraries for office. you can open word documents, iterate through the paragraphs, words, etc.
