This OS is Open Source?
Who will provide ServicePacks?
Is there a guarantee against bugs?

Definitely not Adobe. It is going to ask me to download an update everyday morning. Truly moronic gesture!

Why?
For me, a robust and stable OS will help me to have a longer live. More reliable guard against illness.
The best CPU or Memory will be useless if i havent the defense against a new virus. My components are good enough, i want to use them as long as possible. As bether the OS is, as longer the components will work.
A bether OS may not guard me from directly hardware damage, but my OS will repair it faster

What is in opinion is the OS? To me the OS is not the brain or anything tangible. It is the deep thoughts, values, and the propensity to think in certains......it is the mind(not the the brain)!

|
|
Yeah, if you have a really dirty mind like umm... one of my friends, then you could use an OS upgrade.

Yeah, me too.
There were no extra arms included on the options so extra CPU's wouldn't do me that good.
It would be much like most OS's where you can have multiple cores but the first one is always the one in use most of the time.
A better OS is always what it takes for the machine to operate on high levels of performance under abusive usage (lots of cafeeine, 2 hours of sleep per night/day )
O good OS would be one that would take care os the parts good enough so they would fall apart (depression, sleepness, ...)
Cheers!

Who's marriage wouldn't be improved by increased parallelism? Then I could watch TV and not have to pause it and say "what" every time the wife asked me a question.

Have to be careful though, look how it worked out for Dr Manhattan.....

More and Better interaction with peripheral systems,
Particularly well-designed big-endian models.
I realize this will result in additional utilization of parent-method functionality in order to insure proper inheritance in the child processes.

Yes.
One sensible ,delicate, thoughtful and considerate for wife/girlfriend interaction,
and the first for the real life...

PS
But since I do not have a girlfriend/wife,
I don't need that,
so I voted for something else.

That got me thinking... As a person of the female persuasion of course I can multi-task already, I do indeed use different software for interaction with child processes, and for the spousal unit. And the me at work is not compatible with the home me. Witness the astonishment of my family if they see me in engineer mode dealing with the auto workshop.
Harking back to the previous survey, I would very much like to be able to remove malicious programs from other people; I would like to remove the football-on-television bug from the males at home, and the watching-unbelievably-stupid-celebrity-shows bug from the female child process. Then I could reprogram the blackbirds in the garden to wait with the singing till 5 minutes before my alarm goes off...

Perhaps, but maybe some of the mistakes permanently corrupted some very important data, I wish I had a recovery mechanisms (I'd miss just a few stuff that were done since last backup)

That is the normal backup problem: between them you maybe loosing data. So you got carefully choose the interval between. Maybe a month is too long

...algorithm code is going to run really slow in an under-powered processor.
However, the assumption was that we could continue to keep the existing components, and upgrade what we desire for. In which case, more CPU cores look like the best option to me.
