I got used to live without television when I studied abroad and I don't particually miss it. Besides 90% of the program is just crap.

So am I. I had a TV but threw it out some 20 years ago - no regret Why wasting a good portion of your life watching/taking other's life...? I "waste" my time with other silly activities

PS: There are more people than you think not having a TV...

We seem to have made different experiences. I'm not a technology denier - I have my audio equipment etc.
And I see all the sections with huge TVs, especially now with the upcoming Soccer World Championship in Brasil (We go to public viewing here in town when I feel like to have fun in the crowd - no need for a private session ).
But back to topic: Thinking of my social environment, it's maybe 1 out of 20 not having any TV. If this is extremly rare is your decision.
BTW: I looked up the statistics for my home country (Switzerland): it says that about 8% do not watch TV at all (zero hours a day). So, I seem not to be far off See Haushalte und Bevölkerung - Fernsehnutzung[^] - sorry, German only, but the last chart talks for itself.

Luckily, the world is diverse . Not to judge that one is better than the other - everyone has to make his decision.
Energy saving is a big topic in Europe/Switzerland, so, having multiple TVs is considered inappropriate to a certain degree.
Enjoy the culture shock

We are not wiser. We just seem to suffer more of the effects...

I have recently bought a house, so at the moment my money has a bigger priority. I guess I will buy a TV but just to connect to any other device. I know I am not going to buy cable, if I want to see a film I will go to the videoteque or just login to maxdome, lovefilm or similars to see it without publicity. See the news somewhen or things like that. If (or when I do it) it will be to have a nice "home cinema" or good screen for the computer.
But as I said, that is not something I am buying right now.

Last time I answered this question here (NO) I got my smartwatch some days after, so this time I went for the "Probably not"...
Although I didn't actually buy it, it came for "free" with my Note 3, I liked it in the first day...
... then found it useless every other day after that...
So, unless they actually integrate it with the phone in a useful way, I'll stick with my Omega SpeedMaster or my Tissot Touch!

I can see my kids getting me one of these just to get the laugh of Dad talking into his wrist, not going to happen. "Car 59 where are you"

I had one as a kid. It was better than the new ones.
I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.
