OTOH if I can get a single cable 32" 4k@120hz or 5k@hz display I might finally upgrade this year. On the gripping hand I was expecting suitable hardware to be available sometime last year but am still waiting, so...
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

I don't want to wait until new years to make new resolutions on how to change my life. The calendar year going round doesn't hold a special significance regarding this matter. It's not a fresh start or something new, it only means that for the first month when I'm writing dates, I will be correcting the digits that I write from last year. And I'm not trying to be cynical, but I try not to make a habit out of waiting for a special time in the year to make resolutions. Introspection should be done at least once a month or when you notice or someone points out that you are doing something a certain way(not necessarily wrong or right, just different).

Post Brexit I have to become an Irish citizen this year.
Not a particularly difficult resolution to keep, but an interesting journey (to be sure)

Many people will agree that making 3 month, or even 1 month resolutions, are better and more realistic to achieving one's "true" goals - baby steps - rinse and repeat. If you don't, then you are setting yourself up for failure.

You can implement them however you like - one goal every month, three months, etc. The purpose is to identify things you wish to address in the upcoming year. Not necessarily things that you want to take an entire year to accomplish though for some goals this is mandatory like losing weight which can take multiple years depending on severity.
Setting unrealistic goals affects small-term resolutions and upcoming-year resolutions the same - you will not achieve them.

My list kept getting longer but I have cleared several items during the year.
On technology list, I am going to learn/use sqlmap to inject SQL into my website. Merely an exercise to see if I adequately protected my DB access from SQL injection.
On the book list, next book would be autobiography on Benjamin Franklin
(one of the Founding Fathers of the United States).
On health side, I have exercised regularly, eat less and drink less sugary water. Will continue to do so but need to strengthen because last health check reveal fatty liver and high cholesterol.
On wealth side, it is to create a popular free app to monetize through advertisements. I have a definite idea and is certain to stuck this one off the list next year.

This poll made me realize how many things I gotta get done this upcoming year. I checked 7 out of the 10

Any day now...
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

This may sound silly, but as a developer I sacrifice a lot of my sleep in past. This year I am trying to change and improve my sleep pattern. I hope this will improve my efficiency.

It's a big change, but really getting tired of getting ripped off by a bunch of dirty politicians, in an ineffective and fat political system, having to work so hard just get by.
Canada seems promising, granted I get a visa. US is too hard to get visa sponsored, tried the past year. Now, this year shall be Canada

Me too.
But instead of Canada, I'm trying to get a New Zealand work visa.
Good luck and Happy new year!

Cool, New Zealand seems to be an awesome place. However, too far for me, as it is Australia (have an aunt that lives there).
Since I have some bonds that must remain in Brazil (my son with my ex), it would make it harder to be with him.
Good luck to us, and happy new year to you too.
Cheers.

If ya wanna make a change why wait till January 1 to do it when any day or any hour will suffice?

Stopped my (grade 6) piano lessons in earlier this year due to a combination of work pressure, frustratingly slow progress and total lack of any natural musical talent.
My goal is to get back to an hour a day of practice, and reconnect with my teacher in the new year...

Yeah, I'm really bad at that, I can't forget people easily, seeing them make new friends, driving their social circles to new heights and leaving me behind to have a view — f*ck them! This is my skill that I need to sharpen in 2017.

Facebook friends are no where in my "special" list. People who are in real life, people whom we are associated with, have feelings for, they're the ones whom I am talking about.

Give me five minutes...
It's quite awkward to introduce yourself to people you already met.
"Hi, I'm Sander."
"I know, we met."
"Oh, uhhh, yeah... Now that you mention it (I have no idea who you are)."
