Because there is one out there that will explode in 2031, but it's documented in the code as "will fail in 2031, but frankly I don't care as I doubt the company will last that long, let alone the hardware this is going to run on".
The company went bust seven years ago, the hardware is still in use (I see it's output every time I go shopping).
That's the only hack I can remember that I haven't fixed.

Nah - this was Z80 based (well, HD64180 / Z180) and it wouldn't know a 32 bit number from a hole in the ground: This involved a lookup table for leap years, and got horribly complicated. Basically don't buy food after February 2031 ...
