Yes, that is an improvement. However, look at the actual content your example contains, and imagine that fitted on a programming forum, it would fit five times on the screen. The overall Q&A layout is just wasting screen real-estate, overburdened with graphics, and inefficient.
And I see no way a dialogue can be represented, the typical dialogue that starts with a question, then goes on asking for more information, presents a possible solution which gets rejected because something was left out of the question, etc.

I have seen several instances now of Add Answer being used for seeking clarification or asking more questions, rather than the message area at the bottom.
I think some more descriptive text needs to be placed above the Add Answer button along the lines of; "To seek clarification or discuss this question further, use the message area below. Add Answer should not be used for this purpose"

Tell me about it. It's one of our top priorities to get this area resolved. We're doing two things:
1) Have a comments area immediately beneath each answer and the question. This way all comments or discussions will be targeted.
2) When the author of a question attempts to post an answer to his/her question they will be initially redirected to edit the question. There'll be a comment at the top explaining what happened and a link to actually add an answer after they acknowledge that they are not seeking clarification or making a comment.

When posting a short answer to a question, you get a message saying "The content must be at least 30 characters."
That's fine, except that causes the question to disappear. Given that you are required to increase the size of your answer, it seems like it would be prudent to continue to show the question (for reference).

Looks like some of the controls aren't getting binded on post-back. Thanks I'll add this as a high priority item.

Every now and then I decide that my vote was a little rash and that I'd like to take it away. I don't want to change the vote, because the post is not exceptional and not offensive, so I would like to take away my vote and let others decide what they think of it. Here is a conversation that somewhat conveys such an instance (I'd like to get rid of one of my votes).

Interesting.
We'll add it to the TODOcheers,

When I view one of my answers by going to my answers list and clicking one of them, I get a URL that is specific to that answer. Even if I remove the anchor portion from the URL, the page is able to redirect me to the anchored url. It would be nice if I could click a "permalink" button to get a link to the question rather than the answer.

Right. We'll add a permalink for the question.

Hmmm.. never thought of it that way. Let me talk it over with the team.

The box that tell you how many answers a question has is at the moment orange when the number is zero and green when it's more than zero.
There's also an orange frame around it when one or more answers is marked as accepted, this frame is hardly visible.
Id like the box to be green when an answer is marked as accepted and for example light yellow when the question is having answers.

Thanks! My postings are a natural product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance their individual character and beauty and are in no way to be considered flaws or defects.

I know there is a forum part in the bottom of every question, but I'd like to see one also for the answers, so that the person answering would get a notification in case the OP would like a clarification of some kind, or if a small discussion on the subject would emerge.

Yep that's one of our big TODOs!

My suggestion is to make the Suggestions and Bugs list for quick answers appear in the drop down menu of the quick answers.
Or make the report a bug and suggestion links a little more obvious. I did eventually see them on the right but only with a bit of searching.
|
|
|
|
|
We want to keep the drop-down menus as simple as possible. Most users aren't interested in reporting bugs or making suggestions so we want make this feature's visibility fit this. I'd personally like to see it there as well since I'm interested in it but we really do have consider the common use case.

Just talked to Chris about this and he thinks it's a good idea. So that means I'll add it to the TODO.
The reason I was initially hesitant is because we don't want to put too many items in the menu and I thought the important of this was on par with or below other items we once had.

Suppose there is a question in QA. Somebody then posts an answer, but I notice it is incorrect and I post the correct answer. It would be nice if I could "nudge" the author (e.g., have CP send them an email) of the original answer so they know to review the changes I made to their answer and the answer I added. Naturally, there'd have to be some restrictions.
1) Only somebody who posts an answer should be able to perform a nudge.
2) An answer author should only be nudged once since the last change was made to the question (question edited, answer edited, answer added, post added).
3) Maybe allow the nudger to add a note to the notification.
|
|
|
|
|
Interesting.. I'll suggest it to the team.
|
|
|

The point is that if someone posts an incorrect answer you can either edit that answer to make it correct, or if you want to leave the dead body lying around, edit the original answer to say "Incorrect because of..." and post your own answer as an alternate answer. cheers,

In the article revision list a message box appears, when more than two checkboxes are selected.
This is OK, but it would be more comfortable, when the message box appears after clicking the Compare button.
When I walk through the revisions, I want by force of habit first select the new revison and then deselect the third, not needed revision.

1.When in editing mode, specially when writing a new post or question...CP should take advantage of onbeforeunload js event. I mean that if you're closing the window without submitting it will ask for confirmation.
2. Create a watermark for preview. What happened last that I wrote a big post and clicked preview...then I got busy in some other work and when came back I didn't realize its preview and I closed the tab. And that hurts you know
3. Add Toolbar in quick answers editor, like in other CP editors
