Is this a measure of popularity or something else maybe...
Proof that companies use inferior technologies and then continually chase after maintenance programmers to support those technologies?

[^]Quote: the technique effectively eliminates atmospheric turbulence. "We can correct for atmospheric turbulence in 3-D, that is, left-right, up-down and, critically, along the line of flight," he said. "It's as if the moving atmosphere has been removed and doesn't exist. It allows us to send highly stable laser signals through the atmosphere while retaining the quality of the original signal." Imagine the algorithms !Quote: "Our technology could help us increase the data rate from satellites to ground by orders of magnitude," Dr. Schediwy said. "The next generation of big data-gathering satellites would be able to get critical information to the ground faster."
The phase stabilization technology behind the record-breaking link was originally developed to synchronize incoming signals for the Square Kilometer Array telescope. The multi-billion-dollar telescope is set to be built in Western Australia and South Africa from 2021.

I honestly thought they already had this type of technology (more or less) for improving the resolution of Earth based telescopes.
Excellent, though.

They do, but IIRC it only works to correct left-right, up-down errors. I does not do anything for errors in the line-of-sight, which are less important for astronomy. The new technique corrects for line-of-sight errors (mostly delays in transmission due to the atmosphere), which are important for physics experiments.

Tucows has decided, therefore, to finally shut down Tucows Downloads. “Tucows Downloads is old,” Elliot Noss, CEO of Tucows said. “Old sites are a maintenance challenge and therefore a risk.“
Don't have a cow man, there're lots of other places to download stuff from.

Given all the logistics involved, it's unlikely that humanity will ever see our way outside the Solar System to colonise exoplanets. But the possibility of settling elsewhere inside the Solar System isn't so far-fetched. It's all fun-and-games until the Belters drop some rocks on your head
Apologies if you're not caught up on the books/show.

If all of our ancestors had felt that way we'd be living in screwed up stone age societies in Africa.
To be perpetually at least SNAFUed with occasional periods of FUBARedness is to be human; always has been and always will be.

Kent Sharkey wrote: It's all fun-and-games until the Belters drop some rocks on your head Well, I've read the first eight books (the ninth comes out this fall), and I've watched seasons 1-4 of the show. I'm currently tapping my feet, waiting for season 5 to come out on Blu-Ray.Kent Sharkey wrote: Given all the logistics involved, it's unlikely that humanity will ever see our way outside the Solar System to colonise exoplanets There are two curves here. One is developing the technology to reach and colonize those exoplanets. At this point most visible paths require emergent breakthroughs in propulsion, materials, environmental support, and so on. The second curve is our civilization's ability to survive long enough to let the first curve reach a point where it's possible.
If the curves intersect, we reach the stars. If they do not, we are fodder for some future archaeologist who is not human.

In Visual Studio 2019 version 16.9 Preview 3 we added support for deploying CMake projects to a remote Windows machine and debugging them with the Visual Studio remote tools. Works fine on your machine, while you debug on another machine
