So here I am back in the office.
I am the first one in (lazy buggers are probably grabbing those last few seconds of freedom).
There is no milk for tea (remedied by nipping round the corner to the shop), and I have to make it myself (no elves have arrived to prepare the first cuppa of the year).
It is freezing because the scrooge-like proprietors have turned it off over the break.
The pile of post by the front door this morning is immense, there are mountain goats leaping from ledge to ledge and I will need a damn sherpa to get to the top of it. (Started opening it, but wish I could hand this tedious job over to someone else).
Now the bloody phones have started ringing and I am wondering how quickly I can get my finances sorted so that I can afford to retire.(Being only 45 it may take a few years).
I will be fine by next week, but the Curmudgeonly Old Git in me hates coming back to work after the XNY break.

Funnily enough, that is almost exactly word for word, the post I would make, substituting the "scrooge-like proprietors" for the "careful and considerate owner".

I prefer to think of it as "prudent fiscal management". But yes, tight git could also describe it.

Dry yer eyes.........
I must admit, I am looking forward to going home next tuesday.
Yesterday I quarantined myself in my office, couldn't face the big new years day lunch, and just had the big screen down at the end of my office and had James Bond movies on Sky playing, then flipped it over to the music channels after.
The Aberdeen office is still closed today, so should be another quiet day

and looking for sympathy? I am also back in the office, after only 3 days in-promptu, unpaid leave, spread over two weeks.

I am abed with rampant man-flu that I fear may be going full blown.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

I had so much time off in December that I forgot what my desk looked like.
At least it hadn't been moved. That's what normally happens when I'm off.
