I'm testing an AI module on an M1 mac, an Intel mac, and a Windows machine at the same time. I have 1 keyboard and 2 mice, with the keyboard being a Satechi that lets you switch between 4 machines, and one of the mice being a logitech that offers 3 devices. And I have 2 screens and a laptop screen, and the screens are connected by a 3-ply HDMI switcher.
What could possibly go wrong?
I've just spent 10 mins trying to work out why, when I'm on my Intel mac, the cursor goes onto the external screen but I can't type. I switch to the M1 mac and the mouse seems fine, but then it seems I'm actually on the Intel mac because the cursor pops over onto the laptop's screen and has full control. I'm typing on the M1 via the Satechi keyboard and on the laptop via the laptop keyboard.
How is it when I switch machines (ie mouse and monitor) nothing changes. Screen seems the same, mouse is clearly on laptop screen then onto external monitor. Except I'm running the M1 version of the app which is appearing on the screen.
If this sounds confusing it is. It turns out that macOS Universal control doesn't care what machine I'm on. The mouse will span either. I'm also running the same AI module, so what appears on each screen is exactly the same.
Life is complicated.

Sounds like an existential crisis. I know a good psychologist. You'd like him; he has a thing for $5-10K carbon fiber road bikes.

if you utilize Visual Studio and C++ you know IntelliSense likes a so called hint file i.e. "cpp.hint" . as far as i know no automatic means to generate this file exists . as i find manually entering each macro tedious and usually forget to do so at time of writing each macro and as i found current project has more than 1000 macros i wrote a C program to generate said hint file . i don't know how others solve this problem however if any would find this code useful i can provide same after polishing up the last 2% .

I haven't used VS in years, but if it's a common problem people face these days then it's a great candidate for an article. Perhaps it could be your first one.

If anyone else is wondering like I was: Hint Files | Microsoft Learn[^]
I'm always torn when it comes to #define macros. I've had a number of cases where that was the cleanest way to solve a problem, but I've always felt vaguely guilty about it. My intuition says that if you need to supply a "hint file", maybe you're overdoing it in the macro department.

We have a program that needs a fair few code macros to generate boiler-plate. We simply define those macros only in cpp.hint and include that file to bring in the macros where needed. Of course we're only doing this to keep Visual Studio "intellisense" happy.
