I am sure I am not alone in suffering from this condition, and, for those others that do, my sympathies.
I have had a flare up recently, and have had to take steps.
Normally I would go see the consultant dermatologist who would prescribe me some Methotrexate, however there are side effects of this powerful drug.
(Nausea, Potential liver and kidney problems, Headaches and a one must not father a child within six months of taking it as there are severe foetal abnormalities caused by the mutatitive properties of the drug on gamete production).
Michelle is dangling her biological clock in front of me and says she wants babies and she wants them now, so given that MTX is out, I have had to resort to more 'holistic' methods.
I have been oiling up with Nivea skin lotion, baby oils and vaseline.
I have been wearing lighter, looser clothing.
There has also been many visits to the tanning shop.
It occurred to me that were it not for the psoriasis, these would be the actions of someone looking to find some gay lovin'!
Once this bout clears up (it is a chronic condition but it only flares up every few years), I will at least look good with all the tanning, have great skin and look stylish, so the baby making should be a doddle!

Are these items related?

Vicariously.
Once I am over this bout I may continue to use them, but in a more creative rather than palliative way.

From personal experience, make sure you only use hypo-allergenic soaps - Nutrogena has always worked for me. Similarly use a medical moisturiser, the dermatologists choice these days is E45. Also look out for a good aqua cream; name I can't remember.

My mother has psoriasis (mostly only elbows and some on her lower arms) - she has had great success with Dead Sea Salts. A former colleague suffered from psoriasis terribly, after speaking to my mother he also tried dead sea salts and it gave him a great deal of relief.

On one of the platforms I worked on, they had a high nickel content in the water, and that knocked sh*t out of my skin particularly around my neck and "other" soft tissue areas. Tried all sorts, but found the best was (Doublebase[^]. We also use it on the youngest who gets bad exczema on her inner elbow.
A few other guys use it offshore now as they are bother by dry skin due to chlorine levels and also laundry detergents.
If you haven't tried it yet, I would recommend it.

I sympathize I've been having problems for the last 8 months with some kind of skin problem and it's a PITA. Funny when I was out working in the sun all day I didn't have any problems.

You have my sympathies regarding your dermatological malaise, but seriously, yuck! Computer nerds discussing their skin problems and having sex...
On the bright side you have assisted me on keeping to my diet for the morning.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

None of that appears gay to me.
What sets off my radar is posting a skin care thread.

I suffer from this, too. Not that frequently, but lately it has been bad. Have you tried upping your vitamin d, taking fish or flax oil, and consuming or applying aloe?

It's eczema for me, and I find that Vaseline petroleum jelly cream deep moisture creamy formula works well.
On a side node, why are skin conditions spelled so bizarrely ("ecz", "pso")?

Sorry to hear about your psoriasis flaring up, again.
You mentioned you were going to the "tanning shop;" I hope, for your sake, this refers to a medically supervised facility where your amount of exposure to UVA, and/or UVB, are being precisely controlled, following your doctor's orders.

There are several other meds. Not sure a normal tanning booth (mostly UVA) will do anything. UVB is best for Psoriasis.
At least it's only on your skin. My (very mild) psoriasis started attacking my joints. Gotta inject myself every two weeks with Humira now. Joy.
