I wonder if the genius who decided, in SQL Server Management Tools, if you add a non null column to a table and forget to set the default, it should wait 5 minutes, show an error, then close the form so you have to start all over again, is the same guy who decided it makes no sense to be able to open files in Visual Studio by drag and drop ?

Try using the redesigned performance monitor, must have been the same idiot made the design changes to that! Some of these people need their keyboards removed.

What really irks me is that the message box says the user cancelled out of the action -- I frakkin' did not!
I trained myself to use Ctrl+S to save table changes rather than have that happen.
Today I finally got around to seeking a way to disable animations in SSMS.

I think this is the only way to get the words genius and SQL Server Management Tools in the same sentence.

Don't think so, but I believe he had a hand in the modal window telling you Visual Studio is busy completing background tasks
