If you've a lot of kids in the neighborhood, giving out quality treats can become expensive, yet giving out junk is just not good (at the very least) for your image. What to do? Quality? Add in the wave of desire for healthy treats? Now What ! ?
I found out that giving out a scoop of mashed potatoes is the answer! It's not cheap, especially the good stuff - but once word gets out, the flow of trick-or-treaters tends to ebb significantly.
They did say TRICK-or-Treat, didn't they? Choose wisely!

Potatoes of the mashed persuasion have multiple uses, particularly when flung from a spoon. There could be some very gravy consequences to those so impacted.

There is certainly merit to your idea, with to caveats:
1) they'll not likely find out until much later, thereby not reducing the traffic
2) it's a pity to waste a good onion.
I think I'll turn my attention to habanaro peppers - not the chocolated variety - something a bit more persistent. Caramels, perhaps?
None the less, you have been an inspiration.

We do not celebrate halloween here, so no. By the time the stores have succeeded in introducing it, it will no longer be called halloween to prevent people from being pissed.

We have electric gates a 20 metre drive way, no street lights and the gate lights are off, I would not send my grandkids down our street let alone strangers. We do not live in a kid friendly street
